Should there be a WORD???

Know how we don't have a word in our language for the parent who has lost a child, the way there is Widow? The FB page called Momcology made me suddenly think of the words: Mommow and Daddow. Rhymes with widow.
 (((Mommow)))    (((Daddow)))
I found other websites with info and ideas but I like mine.
Blessings of peace and love to you all.

I call it \"empty\". I call it \"confused\". I call it \"horrific\". You know, on Facebook someone sent me a message saying she lost her husband of 40 years. Now I don\'t discount the agony of that loss since I actually DO know people who have had good marriages and the loss of the spouse was devastating. But I can tell you, from my 84 year old neighbor who lost her 14 year old daughter to leukemia ONE WEEK after the diagnosis: to paraphrase, \"I lost my husband, mother, father; none of this touched the grief I will always feel because of the loss of my child.\" Why does it need a name? WHO CARES? People go on with their lives, they verbally, emotionally, psychologically and (sometimes) physically abuse the children God has put into their arms. They kill those children in utero, by the MILLIONS. We don\'t need a label. We don\'t need a \"word\' because there is no definition of this possible. There is simply a daily agony. Some days worse than others, for so long as live.

I don\'t think we really need a word for it. There are no words for a person who lost their parents (orphan doesn\'t count since it usually means a young child who has no parents and is not adopted). No words for someone who lost grandparents, siblings, etc. I think the only purpose the word \"widow\" or \"widower\" has is to distinquish between unmarried, divorced or widowed.
Peace.

Personally, I\'m with Bink on this one. I don\'t need a new word. MOM works just fine for me.

This is indeed a very personal thing because for me all I ever want to be known as is Mom. Plain and simple because that is what I was, am and forever will be. No need for me to have another label as I believe I carry that in my own heart daily and just so long to always be a Mom.

It\'s always wonderful to hear from you, Sarah, and hope that Andy, your bunny boy is letting you know that he is forever with you.

With love,
XO Joanie

I understand your desire to have a word, or name, that defines our new relationship with our child no longer on earth...
The difference, for me, is that a widow can get a new husband or wife, I although I \" could\" get a new child I\'ll never get another Jennifer ... I\'m her Mom, from the day she was conceived, now and always...
Hugs to you, and thank you

Intriguing question...I kicked around a few ideas of names, but came to the conclusion that no special designation might be best after all. Probably was our government that got that widow/widower business started for tax purposes! Ha! Love, Donna

I\'ve read this entry several times and given your new idea some thought. As much as I love words, and find new ones intriguing, somehow, just plain MOM seems the best choice. Once a mom, always a mom, no matter what happens... Hugs, Cherie
