Should I talk about it?

An ongoing issue for me that comes up again and again in my head is whether or not I should talk about my abuse.  It's hard to know if it would help or not.  For many many years I have worried about what people would think and whether or not they would even believe me.  But now I don't think I really care any more. People can react to me however they want.  It really doesn't matter if they believe me or not.  And if they think I'm making it all up then they can think that----after all there's plenty of evidence on the web that says that these kinds of things DID happen.  So think what you will---it's already out there in the open.  As Fox Mulder would say---The truth it out there---Well, yes it is!
I supposed I could keep all of this to myself and still get through life somehow---not really live of course, but survive at least.  I mean, no I can't say that I am really living life and all that, but I'm still here and I keep hoping in the back of my mind that that counts for something.
Also, I am still not able to connect with people at DS the way I have been hoping I would/could.  I think it's a combination of reasons for this happening and yes a lot of it is because of me and my own issues of trust and problems making friends and being close to people.  But also I think I need other interests and to connect with people in ways other than through misery, pain and suffering.  Lately its been hard posting at DS as I just don't feel like I have the strength to help others that much.
More later.....
Thanks to anyone who reads/comments on this.  I don't expect any feedback, but if I do get some then it would be interesting to hear what people think.
Blessings and peace,
Heidi

I think you should talk to somebody about it. I am sure there is help where you live. Abuse is never the fault of the person who went through it. If anybody says otherwise, ignore them. Most likely they haven\'t been through what you have been through, so they have to right or basis to judge you at all.

Maybe after that, you can put the past behind you. Good luck, I know you\'ll need it

You should talk about the abuse; I think it would healthy for you. Are you in therapy? You need a safe and comfortable feeling, someone you trust. I wish you the best. No one should ever judge you, you did nothing wrong. You\'re a great person.
