Short story

I wrote this for my creative writing class. Our teacher wants us to read something to the class that we wrote. Something we literally dug up from our souls. Here is what I got. I'm reading on Tuesday.
*And I am terribly sorry if this offends anyone, that is not my goal at all. I was raised Cathiloc then my veiws changed and I am now Agnostic. I am not opposed to any religion and do not think it is 'stupid' or 'wrong' that people have faith in something other then what I do. I completely support freedom of religion and of all choices.*

Since birth she had been told that if you are ever feeling lonely, God is there. You can never be truly alone. But lately that phrase hand been crammed down her throat. Suffocating her and her independent mind.
She sat in the back of her dimmly lit closet pulling and ripping apart her own skin. Stabbing her pale flesh with a silver blade, then dragging it across her tender thigh (a place that today is covered in tattoos) leaving a trail of slow rising blood behind it.
Self hatred and disgust was bursting inside her and being explored through her steady hand. Finally feeling satisfied she relaxed her neck and shoulders then collapsed against the wall behind her. Starting at her wounds a fire was rising and flowing through her. She had acheived a most devine and desired sense of euphoria. The girl was high.
Rising from the floor, she found her way to the door and entered her bedroom, lit only by the cresent moon carefully dangling in the shallow somber sky. She admired her reflection in the mirror. There was a certain glow in her face that she knows can only be acheived after she cuts. She muttered something twisted to herself, "I am beautiful." Another bit of knowlage screams in her mind; "No matter how bright I may shine, I am always going to be a hollow pit of darkness inside."
At the edge of her bed she bends her knees and clasps her hands together. "I'm going to give you one last chance." She whispers out her open window. "I know you're all about believeing without seeing, but I'm starting to think this whole Catholosizm thing is a one way street. Or, any religion for that matter. I mean, I'm really starting to think that we're all alone down here. Like maybe we really came from monkeys or the earth used to be a huge ball of lava. 'Cuz when you think about it, the whole book of Genisis seems like some kind of fucked fairytale. It really does sound like something Lewis Carroll never got published. No offense. So, I guess what I'm looking for is a sign. Just let me know you're here. That all the shit I'm going through is a part of some divine plan. Let me know that the last fifteen years haven't been a waste. Do something, anything. Please."
She sat and waited. The room stayed silent. The sky didn't change. A single tear fought through her clenched eyelids as she realized she had been alone this whole time.
