She wants to meet, but I think she wants husband to be there
I got a letter from my daughter! She included her number! She only wants to text. She also said she wants to meet next weekend!I sent her a text and she texted back! First REAL COMMUNICATION in over 2 years! Then she mentioned that she wanted to meet Fri. because that's when both she and her husband are both off work. I texted asking if husband was meeting with us too. She didn't respond right away so sent another saying I would prefer to meet just with her, but will also meet with husband. I also said I could meet Fri., but would have to cancel taking a couple residents out for dinner and to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children. I would prefer Sun. So far no answer A friend said I shouldn't have said anything about her husband or about not wanting to meet on Fri. I want to see my daughter extremely bad, but I don't want to disappoint the residents if this is going to turn out to be a bad joke. I also don't see why her husband has to be there. He hates me. I want to talk to her without wondering if she's saying things just to please him. Still this is huge progress and will continue to pray for a complete reconciliation.

Praise God!!!! I\'m so happy for you!!!!! What a Christmas present!
Feelinghelpless, Not sure if you knew that I am in the beginning stages of a reconciliation with my oldest son. So far he is only comfortable with Personal Messages on Facebook. That is where he feels safe with me for now. I have learned through watching a friend go through a reconciliation a few months back, that it\'s best to let your EC set the pace and the conditions at first. It is because they want contact, but are trying to see if we are \"safe\" to be with again. It is possible that your ED wants her husband there for emotional support and in that case, I would agree with your friend that your reluctance to be around her husband might have scared her off again.
More and more lately, the Holy Spirit keeps reminding me my son is an adult and therefore I have no right to dictate anymore to him in our relationship than I would any other adult....so why is it easier for me to respect a friend\'s boundary than it is my own child? If my friend wanted to bring her husband to a meeting with me and I could not stand him, I would not think of telling her that or insisting he not be there if I wanted our relationship to continue....
I totally agree with Belovedmotherof3 as I am in the early stages of reconnecting. Don\'t put up boundaries unless you feel that you are protecting yourself. Blessings
How wonderful for you. Merry Christmas! I hope it all goes well.
