SEX GYPSIES, do you know any sex gypsies? people who live with u and have sex with u 2 live somewhe
"A new parasite moving into apartments and houses. This one has two feet, a sex drive, and travels with a duffel bag. The new slang for this is called a "sex gypsy."
a sex gypsy’s transient state seems to remain transient. Lulu says that her former sex gypsy boyfriend “has his own place now, which he is always trying to get me to come over to. If anything I wish he were still a sex gypsy, because I am lazy and would rather he come over here, than me go all the way over there.”
“Sex gypsies” — people who hook up with others, so they have a place to (sleep) stay. (Sounds like a form of prostitute to me). They’re not quite homeless, but they’d rather go to your place than theirs, IF they even have a place. And they’d like to stay for as long as possible.
Roland, a 33-year-old teacher from Bed-Stuy, claims he became a sex gypsy in 2003 when his roommate moved out and he could no longer pay the rent. He’d been couch surfing at friends’ places and spent a few nights sleeping on the L train. Then he met an attractive woman in a bar, went home with her and didn’t leave. omg!!
Eventually I confessed to her that I was ‘in between’ apartments,” says Roland, whose name has been changed, like others quoted in this story. “She worked at some lucrative job in New Jersey. She had a nice one-bedroom in Williamsburg and was super sweet. So, basically I just stayed with her for most of the next couple of months playing "couple." [played being a couple].
He doesn’t regret it and says “It was fun. I suppose it felt a bit emasculating to be a ‘kept boy.’ Men are expected to take the opposite role in unequal arrangements like that. But, I was never much for convention and she was really cool, she had tons of money, was pretty and really generous, so that helped, too.”
Lulu, 29, wasn’t surprised when her boyfriend told her he used to be a sex gypsy. “I already knew he’d gone through a period of drug addiction,” she says. “If that’s the worst thing you do when you’re a junkie, you’re doing OK.”
Not everyone is easygoing about opening their homes, though, and not all sex gypsies are so straightforward.
Emily, 37, a scriptwriter from the Upper East Side, was upset that her actor boyfriend broke up with her, left for LA — and then "sex gypsied" her.
“He rekindled their relationship a month after he left, just so he could ‘spend the weekend’ with me,” she says, “which I realized later was because he didn’t want to pay for a hotel room when he had a bunch of auditions in NYC.”
That actor-boyfriend now has a show on AMC.

i have an evil step brother who lived like this 20 years ago, which is how he ended up with his current wife.
i remember doing stuff like this as well when around age 20, but it was more serious, and very unplanned, serious "fun" i guess, just living together for a week.
hippi generation called it shacking up?
we just called it staying with or going away to this or that ones country house. the evil stepbrother was the first person i met who "sex gypsied" in a planned way because there was no other alternative - so i guess that is a genuine sex gypsy. the evil stepbrother is sooooo evil, that none of his relatives or aquaintances would let him stay at their house, not even in the yard or their garage. lol.
his father wouldn't even give him the address of his new home and i didn't know this and gave him the address when i was visiting there after living in europe AND i actually brought the evil step over to visit and his jaw almost hit the floor.
never even occurred to me that he wasn't welcome at any of these houses. learned this the hard way. his cousin tried to strangle him when he visited. wth? and if he knows they can't stand him, why is he visiting? he should have just said, he couldn't go there because they hate him.
people's lives are always so complicated. seems that every decade i meet people with situations like a form of sex gypsy and i'm surprised every single time!

These are incredibly lazy people! Sex gypsy is too nice a name. They\'re moochers. Living off of other people! There\'s no nice way to put it. I\'d catch on to that real fast and send um packin. If I can work 60 hours a week and support a kid, everybody that wants to live with me for nothin, can go take a hike.
Shacking up just meant living together when I was younger. Got no problem with that, as long as everyone is sharing and doing their part equally.
I never shacked up! I never entertained a sex gypsy. Glad about that!
i agree with you. i also think that \"mooch\" is simply another word for thief, moochers just want to CALL it something different.
some people are looking for a house-husband of sorts though, so for them, maybe it works. though i think the article\'s point is that all sex gypsies are gypsies and will be moving on after they finish using the person. yuck, i hate users.
This is crazy!! At first when I read the title, I thought you meant like a \"real\" gypsy. lol. These guy\'s are just freeloader\'s and moocher\'s.
Have to say that I never shacked up. Never even lived with my boyfriend - now husband - before we got married. Looks like I missed out on some fun. :-)
I would sure love to know who that actor is on AMC.
Your brother sounds like a real piece of work. I cannot imagine living my life like that. Couch surfing and mooching for 20 years! I guess if it worked for him and other\'s allowed him do it........everyone is equally quilty.
You know.......these day\'s........I\'m not surprised by anything!!!
lol. carly, he didn\'t do that for twenty years! he did that for a little while twenty years AGO. lol. that was great! but you are right, he is a piece of work anyway. I think it was an eye opener for me, when EVERYONE in his family said he couldn\'t stay with them, not even outside. i think it also opened his own eyes. from there he just got worse anyway. then finally two of his ex-girlfriends offered to let him stay with them and he started staying at BOTH of their houses. what a drama queen. he seemed to think the whole thing was hilarious. but it sobered him up a bit. his former housemate who he owed money to ended up buying his own place and moving on and there the evil-step was still living off of other people.
he is one of the ones i avoid. anytime he or anyone from his end of former step family is around there will be trouble. no maybe in there. just definite trouble. wish they would stay away totally, 30 years later and still stalking is totally psycho. grrrrr. if i gave you a list of his other sins, you\'d be totally horrified. and that\'s only the stuff i know about.
lol. Sorry, I guess I got it wrong......20 year\'s ago....not for 20 year\'s.
Don\'t get me started on my little brother. That is a REAL piece of work. :-(
