Seven Months Later
I broke up with my boyfriend in January. I moved all of my stuff from his house into my storage space next door to my apartment. My mom was upset with me and we continued to fight. The weekend that I broke up with him, I went over to my friend's house (the one I "fell" in love with). We began dating and I thought that things were perfect with her.
As the months went by, she started to care less and less about spending time with me. She was rude and made me feel worthless. She ended up being abusive, just in a different way. She would always make me feel guilty or like I was such a burden. That she was better than me.
Then, she treated my mom like crap. She passed judgement on her and said that she was a horrid mother because she smoked. She was disrespectful and she didn't care how it would effect me. That weekend, I went to her house to try to discuss her actions. Things were going well then. We were playing video games (with all of her brothers), watched Woman in Black with her parents, went on a date for sushi, etc. Then, on Saturday night as we're going to bed, she said that she didn't know if she loved me romantically. On Sunday, I went home. I was heartbroken and I felt sick(I actually was sick, come to find out). On Monday, she broke up with me and I found out by her changing her facebook relationship status. This was on June 4th.
Over the months, my ex and I became good friends (let's call him Joe for name sake). He resolved his issues with anger, he grew up a lot, became more independant, and we were able to talk like we did when we first met as friends. My mom had been in the hospital a few times, even having two surgeries, and he was a great support network. He stayed the night at the hospital once and held me a half hour or so when I was so worried about Mom. He remained an important piece of my family and he was the friend that I needed.
After the breakup with what's-her-face, (let's call her B), Joe was a great support network. He took me to Village Inn to try to cheer me up. We went to a gaming store. We started hanging out a bit more. Then, Mom was sent to the ICU in the hospital. She had stopped breathing. He came up nearly every day. Then, during one of his visits, we kissed. And it felt so normal, so right. Mom made an amazing recovery and was able to go home after being in the hospital for two weeks.
Now, Joe and I are dating again. We both have learned from our past and we've realized how much we mean to one another after the break up. We both have grown up in many ways. I'm still angry with B and I feel like she was a terrible partner, but I'm moving on in my life. I see that she was very selfish (I was in the ER one time and she refused to come see me- even though she lived 5 min away and instead watched Youtube videos). It also felt good to stand up for myself after she immaturely dumped me. I have good and bad days. I do miss her and her family, especially two of her brothers. I had became very close to them and I was even going to go to B's aunt's wedding (out of town) on my 21st birthday. I've realized I was a fool and that she only wanted me when she couldn't have me. I read on facebook a few weeks ago something that makes me believe that she's dating someone. It makes me wonder if she dumped me for someone else. If so, it's karma since I broke up with Joe for her. Never the less, she's gone and I see that I don't want/need her in my life.
I did not attend college during the spring semester. I was sufferring from a mental breakdown in December and this break helped me get my mental health in check. I am preparing to attend college in the fall.
Within the last 10 days or so, I've spent time with my family. My mom and I worked on our relationship in the winter and we're close again. I also went to Joe's house to celebrate his 19th birthday. Joe and I also went to an amusement park/water park the other day. We had a lot of fun and for the first time in awhile, I felt like things were easy.
Joe is leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow morning. He won't be able to use his cell phone but hopefully he can message on his Ipad. I am so proud of how much he has grown up and with how he has learned to manage his anger. He went from an angsty teenager to a strong young man. I may get to see him tonight before he leaves.
I feel like God led us back together. It just feels right, as if we're two puzzles pieces that fit together.
