saw a vision of myself
when I was young
as a twisted figure bent at the waist
eyes squinting, contorted face
 
then the figure
slowly stood straight and proud
even smiling now
 
and what had been misshapen
was now a woman tall and straight
who looks towards tomorrow with the clearest eyes
