Seniors and "senior moments"
We just celebrated Veterans Day. At our coffee group that we have twice a week, there are three World War II veterans--all past 90. That generation is dying out. That generation raised me. Two of these vets were Army, the other one Marine. It was the Marine who took me out to dinner.
Now for senior moments. I was in the bedroom and thought that I needed to do something in the kitchen. When I got to the kitchen, I couldn't remember why I was there! Then I remembered something I needed to fetch from the bathroom. When I got to the bathroom, I remembered what I had wanted to do in the kitchen! LOL
Take care.

I too was raised from those wonderful veterans of WWII, and yes sadly they and many of us are dying out. It is definitely a passing of an era, makes me kinda sad. My dad was a WWII vet, and proud of his service to our country, as is his daughter to this day. Thank God for them and all of our service men and women. Ya know I wonder if this is how our ancestors felt when they began to see the war heros of WWI begin to die away?? Very sad these passing of eras at least to me.
Ahh yes those senior moments! Hubby told me yesterday there was something he wanted to go buy but couldn\'t remember what it was! I told him it was a diamond bracelet for me! LOL...it didn\'t work.
Dreamsicle, I feel as you do. It will be the end of an era, not just the end of a generation. Although I sometimes feel older than I am, because I\'m living with the WWII people, it is still a blessed feeling to remember that they are \"the village\" who raised me and unselfishly instilled values in me. The world sure won\'t be the same!
I am not even a senior and have senior moments, LOL! You are in good company! I did this twice yesterday going to the kitchen and then forgetting why I was there! I am chalking it up now to hormones and menopause. I hear ya about the \"village.\" Nowadays, there is no support anywhere. No one helps anyone. we are all so alienated it seems. Every man for himself. Makes me sad. There are pictures on Facebook of my little home town (Brookhaven PA) which is a little borough in Delaware County. In 1972, the creek overflowed due to a hurricane and everyone took off and helped out the flood victims. women made coffee and sandwiches and helped clean. All of the fathers went down to help. That just doesn\'t seem to happen anymore.
I do that all the time...walk into a room and forget why I\'m there. It\'s so frustrating.
My father fought in France in World War 1. He was 52 when I was born, he was born in 1895. He died in 1978.
Sending love, Terry
It\'s seems senior moments are all over. I\'ve got them too.
it\'s great that you are with people who you feel instilled your values. that\'s something that is lost. the idea that it takes a village to raise a child. like kahlua13 said every man for himself.
sounds like you had a nice outing.,
lol! i get like that now. been like that for probably ten years! there is an article on line that claims \"doorways\" make people forget whatever they thought of in the other room.
