Senior Talk
I have a special request for you. I need your thoughts on a special project I want to try to start. While working at Convergys, I talked to a lot of senior citizens who seemed to need to talk to someone,,,anyone. They had a problem they needed my help with, but also, seemed they were happy to just talk to someone who would listen. It could be problems with their kids or grand kids or other members of the family, friends, health, financial problems, or just plain loneliness. My project is to start a senior phone line service where people would man the phones and talk to the seniors any time of the day or night. It would be 24 hours a day, 7 days and nights a week, 365 days a year with special emphasis on holidays and could be anonymous. Holidays are especially tough on people living alone with no relatives to be with. I know the feeling all too well and would probably be a caller myself. It could be called Senior Talk or something similar and would involve a call center, hopefully local. But, one center with proper staffing and support would work also. You'd be amazed at how much seniors like to talk to others in different parts of the country. They like talking about where they live and learn how people live in other places. The center would need public or private funding and contacts for support for financial and personal problems. I would appreciate your ideas.
