Sending son to university, dealing with end of relationship

Good morning,
My goal is to adjust to my middle son not being here full-time and to get over the breakup of a long distance relationship that ended a week ago. I am a positive. problem-solving person who always wants to take the high road and find the positive rather than the negative. I thought that writing a journal might help me find some comfort when I'm feeling a bit down or overwhelmed. I never realized how hard this stage of life would be! Nobody told me!!! Mama Mia. After a divorce about 9 years ago, I poured my heart and soul into my 3 beautiful kids. I protected them and enjoyed them. I became their Mom AND Dad. They have become amazing, loving, funny, smart and sweet adults. My kids are 17, 18 and 20. It's so weird to only have one at home now. My son, who went to university yesterday, will be home every other weekend and is only half an hour away. My oldest son lives about 40 minutes away. We see him fairly often too.
I hope that writing this stuff done will make me feel a bit less alone and might even help someone else, or might lead to me finding an online friend who is going through some similar experiences and feelings.

Oh, I kind of forgot about the end of the relationship. I was in a LDR for 4 years which was pretty tough. But, I really loved him and cared about him and he was the kind of guy who needed comforting and support. His Mom died last year and he lived with her until then. I went over to support and to be with her when she died and to support BF and the rest of his family. It was a special, sad, meaningful time. Living together didn't work well for us. I think he had too much to deal with re. the loss of his Mom and also leaving his country, job and home (all of which he said he WANTED to do, he was tired of living there alone and wanted us to finally be together). He's been here many many times over the 4 years and our visits were always great. He abruptly ended the relationship a week and a half ago. He won't talk with me and has gone to live with a relative nearby. I imagine he will go back home soon. So sad, so strange. I miss talking to him on a daily basis. I miss having a boyfriend even though I now realize that maybe a long distance BF isn't really a partner...it's more like a penpal who visits a couple times a year.
