seminar

HI JOURNAL,
I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REGULAR,
PARKINSON'S EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR,
HELD AND PROMOTED BY MY LOCAL SUPPORT GROUP.
THESE ARE USUALLY HELD ON  SATURDAY MORNINGS,
WITH A  SPECIALIST  KEYNOTE SPEAKER,
THEY ARE WELL ATTENDED.

THIS SEMINAR IS ENTITLED,
' THE MIDDLE YEARS'.
IT'S FOR PEOPLE DIAGNOSED,
BETWEEN   7 AND 14 YEARS AGO.
THE KEY AREAS  TO BE COVERED ARE ,
SYMPTOM CHANGES AND END OF DOSE FAILURE,
INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTRE SERVICES,
SMALL AIDS AND EQUIPMENT AND,
REFERRALS TO HOME SERVICES AND,
ACAT ASSESSMENT.

WHEN FIRST DIAGNOSED I WAS ENCOURAGED,
TO ATTEND THESE REGULAR SEMINARS.
TAKING THIS ONBOARD AND,
TAKING UP THE ADVICE OF MY CLINICIANS,
THAT THE MORE INFORMED I BECOME,
THE BETTER I WILL MANAGE PARKINSON'S CONDITION.
THIS HAS CERTAINLY BEEN THE CASE.

Steuart, My local support group mets once a month. On the last monday. The group has been incredibe informative and has an open policy on subject mater. it is great to meet others who have been there and done ythat. We also have many social gatherings including holiday parties in the winter and an annual lake front gathering at one couples summer home. Our group has grown to average about 15 to 20 people at our meetings. We have had speakers from the drug manufactuers, Neurologists, Speech theropy specialists, and a Tia chi instructor. Finding a good local support group has been a vital part of my fight agianst the \"IMPOSTER\" Keep up the fight. best regards. Alex
