Self-esteem work
I've been doing a workbook for improving my self esteem and I am finding it so positive. The distorated thought patterns I have lived with my whole life have really come to light during this process. I am working with my counselor in understanding this whole process. My last journal entry talked about my improved self identity and I really have all of this combined as a goal. I am finding it so enlightening to open my eyes to how I have talked to myself for over 40 years. As I look back over my marriage I see how my distorted self talk negativly impacted my part of marriage. Seeing this now and being committed to becoming a better person give me hope. I can see a future of better communication with my children and friends and find this empowering. I must also admit thought that the process of learning about distorted thinking is hard work. On some the first assignments I was so tempted to stop and just read the sections and not really apply it to myself. Now, two weeks into it I am so glad I didn't.
I look back over the past 3 years and realize I have changed in a positive way. The divorce court date was 1 year yesterday and yet I didn't swell on it too much. The 3 year period is the more real time frame for me. I went through hell and thought I would never survive. My counselor has been there with a real look at life for me the whole way and with a positive thought process to replace all of the guilt I was living in the first year.
I am looking forward to my continued growth because I like the peace I have begun to have within myself. The low self esteem has been with me my whole life so I will just give myself space and time to find where this will lead me.

This is a wonderful journal entry and testimony to the benefits of working on ourselves as part of the divorce process. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Nice positive post! I, too, am looking for my self esteem and identity. Trying to take one day at a time.
