Selective Cutting Of My Friends

Thursday, August 14, 2008 – 11:15 A.M. Contrary to what some people may think, I am not cutting everyone out of my friends list. Some of those who are on the list are no longer with DS. Others, I rarely, if ever, hear from even if I contact them first. What’s the use of keeping these people on the list? If those who have left DS ever return, and want on the list again, they can let me know. It doesn’t make sense to let those who need support and help go without it simply because I cannot try to help them when I am spending countless hours tracking down those people who are no longer here.   I did not come to be a member of DS with the idea that I was entering a popularity contest. I came here to get help with some sensitive issues and to heal. Once I got here, I thought that there were members who might benefit from knowing about some of the experiences I have had, and I was, and still am, more than willing to share my knowledge and insights with them.   There are members who have 300 to 600 or more friends. They don’t need me. What they need is common sense, which they are obviously lacking. I guess they think they are part of a fan club of some kind. I think they are into fun and games, rather than health and healing.   Having fun is definitely part of getting well and healing. It is not the only part, but some people think that is the case, and that is what irks me. For those who like “collecting” friends, why not do it in a more appropriate site? Let the rest of us go about our real business without being distracted by scavenger hunters. I am not a collectable, nor do I want to be.   Just so that my real friends know, I am not tossing them away. True friends stand by your side through good and bad times. They are there when you need them, and not just when they need you. Good friends are hard to come by. Hold them tightly, and cherish them highly because they are truly priceless.   (None of the comments in this entry regarding cutting people out of my friends list applies to anyone on the DS Team or Staff. You are the backbone of this site, and the cohesiveness that holds us together.)   Quotes for Success: “Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.”   Confucius
