Seen better days

Well it's been a difficult month.   I live with a friend and her family.  been down here in VA for 8 years.  8 years too long.  I hadn't been able to find a job I felt I could do until last Summer when I started dog walking for a neighbor.   I had pet sat the summer before.  She has a dog, now 2 cats as well)   then last Oct another neighbor needed me to walk her dog.  So that is how I got 2 dogs to walk.  Then I put an ad in our community newsletter and got a few more jobs from it.  pet sitting and housesitting.
I have to get some money together so I can move out of here.   My friend has back problems and instead of trying to think positive she complains and takes a negative approach.  She is a bit of a hypochondriac too.
Also one of our cats is sick.  he has a growth on his tongue.  He has not been able to eat properly for quite some time.  I was the one who noticed it instead of my friend who is so self absorbed.   Anyway he had a biopsy on Thurs and we won't know the results until 2 weeks.

It upsets me,  I didn't want to come here to be a nursemaid or caretaker or maid   And that is what it feels like.
Thanks for listening . I wish you could tell me what I should do.

My brother, who I have been estranged from, wants to see me.  But I am afraid to see him because things were not that great when I lived with him, which was before I came down here.

Sounds like it\'s people\'s attitudes that is getting you down. However, you are in a great position to move forward with your life. Take advantage of it while you have it. What more could you do? Have you thought about looking for a part-time or full-time conventional job that would give you a reliable income? Do you have a driver\'s license and your own vehicle - if not, now would be the ideal time to take lessons or begin shopping around for a vehicle. Whatever plans you have, I wish you success.

How well I understand yo frustration, more than you will ever know. Sometimes it is better to live with somebody who is perhaps in the same boat as you. That way you two can work together on what needs to be done to make rent and so on. You know, somebody you can relate to. I think of you often and please let me know the latest on you

Thanks for your comments. I don\'t have a driver\'s license, I did but I let it expire (dumb move) I don\'t have the money for a car. I used to have a car when I was in NY. But it was too costly for me to keep it. I can get around public transportation, but it\'s not as good down here as in NY. I have to hatch a plan to get out of here. Just not sure what I will do right now.

thanks
