Seeing My Parents For The First Time.

I have not shired this emotional feeling when i first saw my parents for the first time after many years coming home and found safe. After being exsamend by doctors i was taken to the Lake County Illinois Sherifs Office where i was place in a room awating for my parents arival. We lived a hour in a half away south of Lake County. I can not imagine the agony my parents were going though on that long trip fom Dupage county back to Lake County. I was never left alone and didn't talk much. I was bouncing back and forth from feelings of relief to terror. I never herd the door open just the sherif giving me a few nudges. He pointed, i looked. Made eye contact and my breath fell to zero. My parents couldn't get to me fast enough. We must have hugged each other for a hour. I didn't cry at first but the more my parents squessed me, it was on. It was like somebody turning on the kitchen faucet and broke that handle off. There was no stoping it. It is somthing and a emotional feeling i will never forget.

Hugs, (((Magicman))). I'm assuming this is a memory. Were you held hostage by someone? What a relief it must have been to be reunited with your parents again. I'm glad you're OK. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be in your shoes. But I know what it's like to be on the other side when someone is found and returned to you.

When we fled a country in the 90s due to civil war and an overthrow of the dictator, my older brother got left behind. We didn't know if he was dead or alive, or what happened to him. I cried myself to sleep every night wondering if he was dead. Almost a year later (after our return to the US), all of a sudden we got word from a couple of uncles overseas that my brother is being sent home to us... that they're putting him on a plane in 2 weeks. Up to that point we never heard anything about him. I remember mom and my 2 other brothers and me going to pick my older brother up at the airport. We had thought we'd never see him again and there he was. We ran up to him to hug him, but he was in shock. Nobody ever said a word about what happened to him and my brother won't talk about it till this day. Then one of my uncles met up with me about 2 years ago and told me how he was rescued out of there and send back home to us. I could write a book about the whole thing. Survivors like you and me should be writing books, you know? So other people can read this stuff and know they aren't alone.

Being a survivor in different things is amazing. Your two stories are different, yet very much the same.
Thank you magician. Thank you BlueSky.. you are the joys in bad times. You’re here, you’re much better, you are true survivors!

Thank you both for sharing these bad times in your life to show that good things/times can come from scary times!

Thanks for sharing!
