see my neurologist tomorrow
I first saw this doctor about 10 years ago and he was the one who diagnosed me. He believed me! I was very thankful. He prescribes a stimulant which is very helpful. (Apparently I am one of about 30% who are helped by stimulants.) He was a very tuned-in caring doctor. But something changed about 2-3 yrs ago. He is as distant as a doctor can be. He sits in the room w me and looks down typing his notes on a tablet. He rarely looks at me, he does not ask any questions. When I ask a question, he usually just says "I don't know". He does not review his notes or remember about me. He never has any new info or ideas. I have tried being nicer and nicer, I have tried confronting him ("I wish you would look at me"). Nothing seems to change.
I am lucky because I have two other doctors who are very tuned in: a GP who I see every three months and a concierge doctor who I see every 6 weeks. They help me a lot. I feel cared for.
I have thought of just asking him what happened that he changed so much. But I don't think he will answer me, or change.
Anyone have any ideas?

Mm, that\'s odd that he would change so much. I can\'t be totally sure, but I suspect his change has nothing to do with you. Especially since you can\'t think of anything that went wrong between you two. Maybe he lost a loved one and closed off or he went through a divorce. Who knows why people shut down like that? I just doubt that, in the end, you will be able to fix this issue. So, I guess it\'s an issue of how much you want to stay with him or if you need another one. At least your GP is good. My GP isn\'t terrific, but she\'s better than my last one. We struggle so much to find good doctors, don\'t we? Hold you head up, dear one.
I was actually thinking similar to Heather as I read your journal. The doctor may just be suffering himself. After all he is only human. It may have nothing to do with you.You may never know.Or perhaps he has distanced himself because he just doesn\'t know how to help, which is very common with doctors and cfs.
At least you still have two caring doctors and that\'s pretty good going. So many doctors these days are rather distanced and impersonal. My husband went to see a doctor who fell asleep on his chair right in front of him Lol !! True story. My husband just left him to sleep and walked out of the medical centre. Most doctors face their computers the majority of the time.Gone are the days of old . Don\'t worry about him too much. Love and healing my friend.
Thank you so much for your comments. I live alone and don\'t have family close. I do have some good friends, but they can only do so much.
UPDATE: I went to see my neurologist. He did have new ideas and did look at me when we talked. YEAH! He thinks I might have low-pressure hydrocephalus. That is excess fluid in the brain, the low-pressure does not exert so much pressure that it deforms the scull, but does put pressure on the brain. I have the hallmark symptoms of severe incontinence, increased cognitive problems and balance/walking. These are new/increased symptoms on top of CFS. Can often put in a shunt to drain away the excess fluid and the symptoms disappear. I will get an MRI to see if I have it.
Right now I am waiting for the imaging place to call me to schedule an appt. This part is hard.
I am so #@$*% tired of sweating/over-heating. A helper came this morning, I was working along w her outside. Not so hot, 75 degrees. After 30 min I was sweating, especially face, and weak/dizzy. I had to stop, come inside to take a cold shower (feels so good). But then, even though my skin is cool, and I am cool, I still keep sweating. I have to sit down, drink cold water and let my nervous system calm down. Takes about 30 minutes. I just want TO GET ON WITH THE WORK! Thank you, shouting makes me feel better.
Hi ya. Thankyou for accepting my friend request.
I am sorry your Dr has changed. Sounds like he has personal stuff going on.
Your neurologist sounds wonderful. So good that he has all that information.
I only have a GP that doesn't know much at all and as I live remote and am unable to travel, that is it. But the GP is kind and caring,so that is something.
All the best for your MRI.
