See Me
I write poems and make drawings for my therapy about my thoughts, feelings, struggles and abuses.
SEE ME
Walking through crowds as if I’m a ghost
I’m burning, on fire, but no one takes notice
The fire is black yet burns like hell
My outer self feels like a crumbling shell
The blackness seeps out through the growing cracks
Yet no one sees or cares they all turn their backs
No one notices the anguish or the crushing pain
The LOATHING, the HATRED, the overwhelming Shame
It is Raging inside of me without end
Crying out for help, desperate for a friend
Everyone passes by as if I’m not there
Not seeing the sadness, the consuming despair
The violation of youth and heart and soul
I needed someone to help me, to help make me whole
There was no one who wanted to step up and defend
A girl needing help, NOT to be condemned
Instead those who should have seen and cared
Closed their eyes to her anguish, left her alone and scared
Adding to the agony she already felt
They called her whore and slut, love was withheld
Decades have gone by and I’m still not seen
By those who claim to care, I’m on fire, they throw gasoline
Fighting alone takes all the strength that I have
Continuing to survive when I’m breaking like glass
Still no one sees, no one tries to understand
The depths of the shame that I can no longer stand
When I am gone will they finally see
How love and caring might have saved me?
