Second scan, slow growing follies, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

So here I am at my second IVF scan after day 5 of stims, I've never been more excited to hop on the table and spread my legs for the US. As she is doing the scan, it hurts and it's senstive, so I think to myself, this must be a good sign!
Once the nurse comes out to go over the results, I can see worry in her face, I'm pretty good at that, I can pickup on people's feelings super easy. Instead of going in the room and saying my usual jolly "so everything looks good right?"..I just stayed quiet, took a seat, and waited for her to speak. Right away she tells me that my follies are growing slowly, appartently I have 11 small ones and one that is measuring at a 10. The others are too little to measure. I started with a lower does of Menopur 150 and Follistim 225 for the first days, then they upped the Menopur to 225 on Monday night, so I've been on the higher dose for two days. Being that I'm on day 5 of my stims, I'm not sure if I just need more time or if this might be a bust. They are checking my estrogen levels and will call me to let me know if if goes up. If it doesn't, then I might have to cancel the cycle (per her words).
I feel like I'm being rushed and I'm not sure if some peole just take longer. I feel so frustrated and hopeless since she said the words "canceled cycle' because I feel like she might be speaking prematurely.
My body responded so well during the IUI's, that I dont know what the fuck (parden my French) is going on!
Any advice our encouragement would help. I should have worn waterproof mascara today.

I too had slow growing follies on my last IVF last month, my RE said it\'s totally normal to start off slow so he increased my meds I went from 1 vile of menopur to 3 and from 150 of Gonal F to 350, that seemed like a huge jump but it seemed to work, BUT I didn\'t have my next scan for 5 days after I started on more meds. Then they pushed my retrieval back a day later than originally planned. My RE said the US shows a lot but the retrievals go a lot off of the bloodwork levels so if your bloodwork isn\'t where it should be they should be able to extend your cycle, the BW will show when you need to ovulate or are about to ovulate which they don\'t want happening until they are ready. Don\'t give up hope I think only 2 days of the higher dose is too soon to tell if they should cancel your cycle. Hopefully your bloodwork comes back so you can have more time for stimming. I had an IVF cycle where I stimmed for 14 days!!! It can happen.

Don\'t give up hope - I really think the nurse is talking prematurely. I also know others that have stimmed for more than 10 days, so you might not be half way there. They always seem to tell you the worst case scenario to cover their a** in case it does happen, so you aren\'t surprised. Like when they gave me too much estrogen and told me that my liver might fail (worst case scenario that had me freaking out). I have faith that those follies will keep growing and you will be surprised at our next appointment. Thinking of you friend :)

Thanks girls, I\'m trying not to just have a nervous breakdown over this since I haven\'t even received my Estrogen results yet. I swear, if that nurse spoke too soon I\'m going to punch her, she really didn\'t have to put those two words \"cancelled cycle\" in my head, apparently, she has NEVER dealt with IF. And now we wait.....

I\'m sorry the appointment was disappointing and that the nurse used those words. I don\'t think that was necessary. It\'s so damn hard, but try to stay positive. Thinking about you girl!

Slow and steady wins the race. I am sure you are one of those people that may just take an extra day or two. That\'s why they always give a range for how many days you will be stimming. And its amazing how between day 5 of stims and day 10 of stims growth can sky rocket. Do not give up hope. I am sure all is well and she scared you for no reason. Hang in there!

I don\'t have personal experience with this, so forgive me if my way of thinking is way off. But If you are on something to keep you from ovulating, and your follies ARE growing, what is the issue with stimming until they are ready? I don\'t get why they would have to cancel anything. Just go until they are the size you are looking for. It sounds like you have a great number though. Maybe ask why anything would have to be cancelled if the point of some of the meds is to give you the time you need to mature?

I know nothing about this - but I hate that the NURSE made that assumption and said that to you! Try not to think about that until you can talk with your Dr.
Thinking of you and sending love your way! xoxoxo

Yeah I am shocked that she used that verbiage before getting your lab results and it only being two days! I agree with the others it is way premature to possibly cancel. Let us know when you get your blood work! I hope you get the opportunity to punch this nurse in the throat!

My follies are slow growing as well...hopefully we just need a bit more time for them to get the memo to grow!!! Thinking of you and praying they kick into gear!!

I\'m sorry this couldn\'t be easier! What happened with the bloodwork? You have a good number of eggs growing. They may have to sacrifice the faster growing ones, but if it yields a bunch of quality embryos, that is fine.
