second opinion
I e-mailed my second born son's former psychiatrist for a second opinion, asking him if he knew of anyone in the the department that could help us. I didn't ask him if he could because, as I recall, he was exclusively an in-patient doctor. He was my 2nd born son's doctor while my son was in treatment but then continued to see him after he was released. I guess my son was an exception. Anyway, I've been anxious about giving T the Wellbutrin because of the side effects and wonder if the benefits will really outweigh them. We're not sure if T is depressed and it is so-so in treating ADD. T is now minimizing the depression part of it. Also we learned that there is an alternative ADD med that T's friend takes, who is also chemical dependant that I want to find out about.

My son was on Wellbutrin for awhile, for depression, and did well on it, no side effects. In fact, I remember now that at one time he was on a combination of Wellbutrin and Zoloft, and was unusually functional and almost actually happy, and The psychiatrist told us that a lot of patients report the same on that combination, so much so that they refer to it as \"Well-Off\". Eventually he leveled off on it and had to be switched, which is always the case. Good luck in making your decision, you are right to question everything first and get lots of opinions.
