School Starts up again
Well, it’s the 2nd day of school today for both kids. My son had asked me to make breakfast for the 1st day, so I did—scrambled eggs in a hole! He was in pretty good spirits & was ready to leave relatively early. (Today, left at the same time, but didn’t have breakfast.)
In the evening, however, I could tell that he was somewhat stressed out, though he said he wasn’t. It’s probably just the change in schedule & the fact that they now have homework in multiple classes again! But he’s studied his schedule closely & found that he’s had classes in most of the rooms before, so the “familiar feeling” will be good for him. Plus his locker is near most of his classes, so maybe he’ll actually be able to use it this year!
He had me get a great 5-subject notebook with folders for this year. I think it’ll keep him much more organized. Plus he’s trying out a new assignment notebook (nothing fancy, just a small memo notebook); we’ll see how that goes.
His schedule is a little different from what we expected, but it may turn out for the better. Because Biology has to be 2 periods (but not every day), and because he takes German as a language, he was only able to get into the 1-period Geometry, as opposed to the 2-period one. So that may be a challenge. But the way it worked out, he now has an occasional study hall.
My daughter’s 2 best friends are in her homeroom, so she’s happy. Plus Girl Scouts has started up again. Structure has returned!
