SCD Day 9
Lol, I read the last line of my last journal entry about going for a walk and how it may make me feel better. We made it a block away and I had to go...diarrhea that is. So much for getting out there and getting a little bit of exercise! So I went for my suergery checkup yesterday. It had been 3 weeks since I had the anal fissure operated on and it wasn't looking good. I knew it wasn't feeling good but I though it may just be part of the healing? The actual surgery is still in tact but it's very swollen, irritated and raw. That's what terrible diarrhea will do to a surgery sight! He gave me a prescription for Lomotil inplace of the Immodium. He put me back on Questrin instead of Benefiber. He wants me to start taking an over the counter probiotic. He also gave me more of a steroid cream to both help heal and protect it. Lastly, he's checking for c-diff and went ahead and started me on Flagyl (which never has been able to get rid of the c-diff in the past). Surely this will slow down the diarrhea and my surgery will be able to heal completely. The diet is going...not perfect...but it's going. I've been snacking on some homeade beef jerkey that my dad made which I'm sure is completely illegal. I've also had a few almonds which I'm sure I'm not ready for but I just don't seeing this diarrhea stopping without some medications so I'm expanding my diet a bit. I've also had a few bites of Illegal foods such as pizza, a sandwich and cherry pie. I'm wondering how much harm I'm doing when I take just one bit??? I know it's not good BUT I also know it's better than me eating the entire thing. I felt really good for the first time in a while last night. I felt happy and like I had energy! I'm wondering if it was the Tramadol making me feel good or if I'm getting a glimse at what this diet will do for me. This morning I've felt very weak. I had to go do the stool studies and walking into the building seemed like a big task. I hate that feeling. I'm used to being strong and athletic not tired by turning the steering wheel. I've got to spend the afternoon figuring out meals for the rest of the week. I still have the fish to bake but I can't have that for every meal. I'm loving cheese. I need to not over do it. I think I may try some sort of breakfast muffin because I'm getting tired of scrambled eggs. The doctor reminded me NO FRUIT yesterday which puts me in a bind. I have all this apple and pear sauce in the fridge and I don't know what I would do without my bananas. I may just continue them...in moderation. My yogurt maker came in last night! I'm going to get a batch of that going this afternoon as well. I was thinking of trying some kind of tuna salad but I don't know? I tried to make the mayonaise last time I was on the diet and it was a total flop! I may just try tuna, eggs, and mustard (which doesn't sound that good). I got my colonoscopy and endoscopy rescheduled for the 24th of this month.
