Saw someone struggling in the street
I was just out getting some stuff where I saw a guy who was really distraught. He started calling me so I stopped and turned around and he was having some kind of mental reaction or a neurological reaction. I told him, friend is everything alright? He told me I wish you came earlier. I stood there for a while while he regained his mental stability and power. I suspect he was having a seizure. I volunteered once for an epilepsy sponsored festival and we had training to deal with someone who would be having a seizure. I felt very bad for the guy. I made sure he was ok and I believe that he will be ok. I left because he in Jordan I wouldn't know who to call and what to do. I hope that he is fine.
My heart was broken when I saw that. I also went into a panic attack because it triggered the fact that my dad is able to provide me with mental health care but mental health care in Jordan is non existant and is as taboo as homosexuality. I am privilaged to have my dad afford my treatment and I feel guilty that others can't have the same resources that I have. I am not sure if it is narssasistic or not to feel like I need to do something to help. I am an engineer and I am not too friendly and a people person so it would be selfish to try to help because I wouldn't know how, but I have the drive to do something about it. I want to at least be a member of some kind of mental health organization in Jordan and try to raise awareness about it.
I feel shaken up because it was a very difficult scene to watch. Maybe I could have paid a taxi to take him to a doctor and paid for the doctor. I know an Doctor who was a member of parliament in Jordan and I would imagine that he would help him for no charge.
I cannot see such scenes. Maybe next time it would be better to move along and not help him, but how could I do that when I know that he needs help but had it not been for our crappy country he would have had it.
Btw Whatlife is a direct translation from Arabic which literaly translates to What is this living condition. I am frustrated and it comes to mind. Life is tough. I want to have the strength to face it. Que sera sera.
