saved two cats from death row//bottle feeding a fragile kitten from the mall//work troubles/burdened
another exhausting day because of rescue mostly. returned the two carriers from the two death row cats, to the bipolar woman who is interfering with the care of the little one by distracting me. the woman is VERY demanding. next week would have been a better time to help her, but you can't reason with people who are mental.
the girl who found the fragile rescue kitty at the mall called, to see if the kitten was still alive. its probably about six weeks old. but super skinny, you can feel every rib and the body itself is the size of a 4 week old. but the eye color is that of a six week old and we generally base everything on eye color (a kitten's eyes switch from blue to clear gold at about six weeks of age and normally at that point it means the organs inside the kitten are properly formed and functioning). however, every rib and bone can be felt on this little kitten. it was also alone outside the mall during the cold spell, she found it outside of the food court. amazing it was alive at all. the girl says the kitten was listless while at her house, and could barely walk the whole time she had it and continuously cried for food. they had no idea how to take care of a newborn kitten or one that was ill and didn't know what to do with it. they called a shelter and a volunteer told them to buy whiskas cat milk (WRONG!!!). grrrrrr. if you don't know what you are talking about don't ADVISE at all. newborns and fragile animals MUST HAVE kmr (kitten milk replacer). NO ANIMAL not even a healthy one, could live on whiskas cat milk, which is merely to be used as a treat! i want the name of the volunteer giving out that kind of false information. how many infant kittens have died from that volunteer giving wrong advice. that is what happens with things like that. grrrrr. if you don't know, SAY you don't know. don't advise something that you just made up in your own head as though you are an expert and you definitely AREN'T.
i settled in the two large cats from death row, one of which is probably from our rescue as i remember this woman and i'm not sure if the other cat is or not. so they are saved and safe for now. i think they actually KNOW this and seem very content. what an ordeal they went through! wonder if they know they are lucky to be alive right now as at the pound they would have been killed yesterday. the woman who brought them there, adopted from us two years ago and then again last year, but last year she had me pick up the kitten she adopted as a return. i remembered the house and the couple, as she and her husband are both bipolar and i don't know what else, and are on meds. as they speak to you, they change from nice to nuts WHILE in the middle of conversation, and then they monitor each other to take their meds and a time out etc. wow! i had never seen anything like it. he is 36 and she is 41. the death row rescue threw me off kilter, because it takes hours of negotiating and driving to get it etc., and its happening in the middle of doing every five-six hours of bottlefeeds for this fragile little one who needs extra attention for the next 3 weeks. its super fragile - like intensive care unit and i'm still trying to figure out where its at. so i'm not thinking straight right now. and feeling burdened.
the girl kitty from death row, i've been calling her missy, is in a dog cage with food, litter and water and seems very nice, though the former owner claims the cat is skittish? doesn't seem to be at all. she'll go in to be fixed asap. the other kitty is a torti, if its truly from us, it should already be fixed. i need the receipts so i can see what is going on, we are looking on our end rather than deal with more drama by asking the woman for her receipt. grrrrr. does the woman show up at emergency rooms and intensive care units making more drama there as well? wth?
then another one who adopted last year called because her siamese, who is around a year old now, is biting her and breaking the skin. it probably needs a friend and wants to play, but the woman only wants to keep one cat. i suggested a solid black 5 month old, as many people who have siamese also get solid black, they look nice together in photos etc. so she is thinking about it.
so everything is rearranged for the new ones from death row, for now. k also went to look at property again. i am now looking at properties that are over ten acres. if i have to go rural i may as well have privacy, though i can't imagine me happily living more than ten blocks from the ocean. i doubt i can handle rural. mary (another rescuer who loves farms) or someone like that will have to do that part. mr also called because her 3 year old cat is ill with fever. when it rains it pours. i noticed big is also not quite okay - he never regained the weight he lost last year. he's soooo thin. but he is 7 years old, it could be old age? then i noticed he had nasty pooh so maybe dewormer or flagil for giardia, though the next day his pooh was normal. very confusing. maybe also stronger flea meds as fleas can suck all the blood and meat out of any animal. very dangerous insect.
also discovered that the cat from stefanie that got out of the carrier and i wasn't sure if it was in the house at all, is under one of the beds hanging out in the box spring. i only discovered that because its tail was hanging down when i looked under the bed today. lol. martha is supposed to take those. i have a siamese snowshoe who needs a place outside i guess as well, no issues with it, indoors but its totally skittish. can't get near him/her? and its been a year. fixed, shots, gorgeous! any takers?
had to do a schedule change for the guy that was a no sho at work (mortgage office). our company lowers hours until there is nothing left, to avoid paying unemployment. he knows this as he has been with our company for 4 1/2 years. he knows what is going on and is very nervous and pale from it, and should be. he claims he is going to get "3 phones now" for $50 per YEAR, he found this deal on line, so people can reach him, as the no shows and no reaching him has been going on the entire 4 years. i blew up. you don't need 3 phones you need one GOOD cell phone and not a cheapy with no reception that breaks all the time. we have gone through this crap with him 4 years now. he is also still insisting that no one was here and he is sure the office was closed that day. WHAT? since when? talk about living in a fantasy world.
then he has all the intake sheets out and he is baffled because like 51 people came through our office on tuesday. grrrrr. then he says, well no one was here the day before early in the morning. i doubt this and what difference would that make anyway. he still didn't show up and didn't call anyone back until TEN HOURS later and he's done this NINE times on paper, (probably more than that).
then another guy, the one that overqualifies himself every time he comes back to work in one of our branches, he starts out at each branch great and then by the end of the year, he sucks. went outside of our office, into the PARKING LOT, to talk to someone and left our office completely unlocked with the GLASS entry door WIDE OPEN while everyone who is normally inside was out to lunch! wth? first he says he was only gone for a second, not true as i got back and was inside for about ten minutes and he still wasn't back. then he says its good for fresh air. (really? fresh air from where? the hallway?) what the hell is he thinking? and no he isn't young, he's 41. this whole week at work SUCKS! our office has been getting in a LOT of cheap real estate that was over 130,000 a few years ago, and is now under 40,000 which is great if a person wants to invest, but it also means the downward spiral is NOT over.

You are a SAINT my friend ! Thanks for saving those kitties !
Hugs and lot\'s of Love, Gwen :-)
Amazing that the idiot woman is giving out bad information to people who are trying to save animals.
I love reading your stories about your interactions that save and help these lots little furry souls! Sometimes it seems like you\'re dealing with real idiots, but you know your stuff so well, the kitties end up the winners.
Good on you! I admire you so much for working full time and doing this awesome work on your own!!
You are so right about them giving false info and killing animals from it. All workers should be versed in normal questions as to the animals. If they do not know the true answer to say they don\'t know or ask someone else to just lie about it is horrible.
Yes, your workplace sure does have it on going troubles. I hope it all works out quickly. Yes, we see the downward spiral here as well. Things don\'t look better at all. Huggles
Wow, your a blessing to those poor souls. It breaks my heart to read your journal and know there are people out there like that. Luckily we have people like you that take the time and effort to help!
Your the best
Hugs
the mall kitten is a girl. she isn\'t urinating properly and only gets water if i syringe feed it to her. the girls said she could lap it up when she first came in. i wish they had given me more information. its always best with these to simply go to it as though they are 3 weeks old, but she could also eat the chicken tid bits fiercely, so you figure, okay, she\'s okay, and then she plummits again. she doesn\'t appear to be eating the dry food. if she was blue eyed i\'d have been more careful from the get go as i\'d assume she was an infant, but with gold eyes, its like well, she\'s bigger, so she will want different things.....i keep reminding myself. think like its a 3 week old think think think and i\'m so foggy instead and all the other cats follow me around as i do this and then i lose whatever thoughts i had anyway.
Love you bunches hon....truly do...for all that you do with rescuing these cats and kittens. I know how much work and effort goes into it...with just my wild bunch. Not many people out there care...wish we lived closer I would help.
Sorry I have not kept up with your journals. You take care of your self. Hope your meds are helping with the dizziness, that your sleeping good and that your knee if not hurting. Hugs/Love hon xoxox
After reading this, I want to laugh and cry at the same time. (Your) life is a bit too real!
I loved reading your journal entry. Thank you for helping those precious kitties; you are an angel on earth.
