Saturday update from a young man

My outlook is a bit upbeat today. I have learned a lesson in perpective and gotten an ego boost in the process. All this was due to just a brief exchange between myself and an elderly man.One of the restaurants in our area has a really great  "Early Bird" special for senior citizens between the hours of 2-4 pm on Monday thru Friday. My wife and I went to eat there yesterday. All the seniors in the county seemed to be there. My wife let me out at the door and I sat on a bench in the foyer waiting for her to come in after parking the car. A man who appeared to be about 10 years older then me approached and asked "Excuse me young man, Do you mind if my Father sits beside you for a moment?" My immediate reaction was to look around for the young man he was addressing...then I realized it was ME!  I told him that his dad could sit beside me and he guided his father to the bench beside me. His father was in his 90's but was mentally sharp and looking forward to his dinner. It then occurred to me that I have nothing much to "trip" about. (Since I'm now a "young man" you will have to excuse me if I sneak in some of the hip hop terminology). I do have health problems but I can handle them...most of the time anyway. If people look at me because I walk a little "funny" ..well that's their problem. And if I need my spirits lifted a bit..well, I can always go back to the restaurant and see if some one calls me "Sonny".It's all in the perspective.Be well,Tom
