Saturday's Plans Changed
Today, as planned, I rode about 60 miles to a Harley Mechanic to have a new clutch put in my Harley, I almost didn't make it. The clutch was slipping so bad, about 40 miles an hour is the best I could do. I made it and my wife and I went to breakfast, then I rode back home. I then rode to get a haircut. Altogether, about 140 miles today on my Harley and it was great. 67 degrees, sunny, and just wonderful
Now, for Sat. While I was doing the funeral yesterday for the 80 year old man that lived about 8 blocks from me, I was notified that a family wants me to do the funeral of their 23 year old son, who committed suicide Wed. afternoon. I knew his mom and uncle when they were teenagers. I knew this young man's grand-dad too.
This will be a tough funeral. The visitation is Sat. from 2pm to 6 pm and, the funeral is Sunday at 2 pm. The local funeral home is not large enough to accommodate the size of this family and the friends expected so, arrangements had to be made at one of the larger churches here in town. His mother requested that I do the funeral.
This is such a shame, for the loss of a young life. He was a college student and still lived with his mother. His dad lives in another state.
As always, I will do my very best to be a blessing and a comfort to this family. I can so relate to these parents. My son was 37 when he was killed in 2005. When an old person passes away, you can reflect on all their years, experiences, etc. but, when someone passes at such a young age, especially, when they have taken their own life. It makes things so much more difficult to deal with all the different emotions that a person has. Man,, this gets tough but, this is what the Lord has called me to do.
