Saturday morning, another week gone,no news as such
Good morning journal, the time is now 9:19am and I have been up and around for about an hour,on my second mug of coffee of the day,and decided to come here, not with any great expectation, but rather hoping that my blankness of mind and my lack of any real progress or news will develop into something on the page before me that I can look at and say well,it ain't so bad really. My wheelchair that I was measured for on August 21st has still not arrived, and,as it is the weekend,I don't foresee any change in that state of affairs until the start of next week at least.I had a conversation with the disability people by telephone and they tell me that the earliest I should expect to hear from them is the beginning of October, now, that may not seem too long away, but when you have been trying for as long as we have,it isn't easy to be patient.I have been praying daily for God to give me the ability to just rest and be patient, sometimes He lets me,and,at other times I sort of rebel and get a little uptight or angry at the length of time it seems to be taking for things to happen. That isn't God's fault,it's mine, but sometimes I just can't help myself,I know they are making my wheelchair from scratch, and I know that it is being made especially for me,but how long does it take for a wheelchair mechanic,or whoever makes them up,to screw a few nuts and bolts together?. The disability thing is obviously different,it's a government body so I expect them to drag their backsides a bit,but even so,should it really take well over a month to read a few pages and decide that I'm actually ill and worthy of help from a health system that I've paid into for forty three years?,I just find that disrespectful and totally uncaring, but then again, this IS the government we're talking about. My need for help with my mobility is unfortunately getting greater,I can just about shuffle to the local store around the corner, but anything further is completely beyond me because of the extreme tiredness and the weakness in my legs that necessitate my need to physically sit down and rest every ten meters or so,it is embarrassing and infinitely annoying and frustrating beyond belief. As for my pulmonary rehab sessions,I have heard absolutely nothing from them since I was assessed on August 12th,so I have decided to call them when the new working week begins to see if I can get some answers, being patient is all well and good, but sometimes you have to give things a little nudge to get things moving. As to my mental health treatment?,I have heard nothing more except a letter to confirm my next appointment on November 1st,no additional sessions as regarding talk therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy which I thought was agreed at my first session with the psyche doc,I don't mind being kept in limbo as such, but as of this point I am no further forward than I was before I saw him,oh well, perhaps I will give Carol Jolly,my point of contact with the complex mental health team,a call on Monday,it can't hurt anyway.I know it seems like I've done nothing but complain in this journal entry, and I don't mean to,there are things that I am really grateful for in my life,my wonderful wife for one, without her I think I would have given up long ago,but she keeps me going, bless her, even though I know that at times it is extremely hard for her.She continues to love me to distraction,as I do her,but I can see how tired she gets and it does make me feel badly for her. Then there are our three canine children, yes,at times they can be annoying, but you know, even when they get a little boisterous I still love them very much, and sometimes a little doggy cuddle helps lift the spirits of this cantankerous old bear, unless it's Caesar giving the cuddle!,at over one hundred pounds,it's more of a squish than a cuddle, but I love him just as much.Oh well journal,I've done enough complaining for now, time to get up and venture into the day ahead, until next time then, may the Good Lord continue to walk with us,at my pace please Lord!,and may He continue to bless our home and everyone in it,and, hopefully, bring about some positive results that will make our lives a little easier to bear.In Jesus name,......Amen.
