Saturday July 4, 2015 (11:30 am)

Today seems to be starting off rather well. I got up, checked my blood sugar (131), made myself some breakfast (turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, and two strawberries), then set about logging all of that information. Right now, I'd really like to crawl back into bed and sleep some more but I have somewhere to be in about 3 hours. I hope the rest of the day goes as well as it started out being. I'm going to my preacher and his wife's  house to hang with them and theirs for the 4th. I know there will be food but I have no idea what they will be cooking. On some level, I want to eat before I go just in case but at the same time, I don't want to be rude. I guess since my husband and I are to be there are 2:00 pm, I could have a snack before we go over. Not really thinking we'll eat promptly at 2:00 and I'll likely be hungry before then. Yeah. I think I'll snack. Maybe some Weight Watchers string cheese and some almonds. Oh! That book I mentioned in yesterday's journal (The Type 2 Diabetes Diet Book), I started reading it last night. I didn't get very far because it was late and I was tired, but so far it's pretty informative and enlightening. I haven't gotten to the actual dieting portion of the book, yet. It's still talking about what Diabetes is and what causes it. Turns out it's not just being overweight/obese. It's an actual defect in the blood and pancreas. Being overweight definitely doesn't help matters, but on some level it's nice to know that there's more going on than just a weight issue. Not going to use it as a cop-out. I know I'm a whale and I also know that it's mostly due to poor eating choices and being lazy. That's going to change, though. It has to. Pretty sure my mom and husband don't want to bury me at the ripe old age of 30 because I was too lazy to care.
