Saturday again
Today all my muscles hurt. Did weeding all day yesterday. Hired two (nice but mentally slow) guys to help. Couldn't believe all they got done for me, and much of it without my asking or instructing. My whole yard, including ten flower beds, looks soooo much better! That is a big weight off my mind.
Next I have to deal with getting scammed by Dish Network and AT&T. I had called them and said I was newly widowed and could no longer afford my cable bill of $122.50/mo. Oh, both said they had these $19.95/mo offers. I let them install. Just got bills in the hundreds from both of them. My park manager said to call Office of Aging (I'm 76, so I qualify) because they have an Advocate for the Elderly. I called. No such thing. Got three numbers - for fraud division of the State Attorney's office, Consumer Credit and Better Business Bureau. Now my stomach is in knots as I plan out what I will tell them. Taking the weekend to get my ducks in a row and planning to call on Monday.
Turned in my paperwork for Hardship Relief on my lot rent. That will take forever of course. Filling out other extensive paperwork for senior subsidized housing. That would be a small apartment. But their waiting list is long. Plus I don't know what I'd do with this house if I moved out. It's old, 1979, but in good shape. But what is selling today? I had told my youngest son in PA I would sign it over to him. Forgot he has a big dog. They wouldn't allow that.
Who knew that when you lose your husband you may end up without a place to live? I not only lost his SS, but an annuity that ended with his death, and help from his brother, which quit without warning. Now trying to stretch 1/4 income to cover expenses and it just won't work. Stomach problems that had cleared up are back. I turn a smiling face to the world, but inside I'm in misery. I'm scared and alone. I wanted to write a more upbeat journal entry for today, but it just didn't work. Sorry.

I am so sorry for what is happening to you. This country should be ashamed of how we treat people who work their entire life and pay taxes and receive no support when they fall on hard times through no fault of their own. Sharon
I am so sorry. Have you filed to draw your husbands social security?
For Dish Network and ATT, its a shame. I would call their 1-800 numbers tell them you thought you were getting the 19.95 pkg and you didnt need anything installed and you cannot afford to pay the bill. They make millions off of people. so stick to your guns.
Remember when TV was free, It is amazing how greed took over.
Its spring time and people are starting to buy and sell homes, so maybe it will all work out.
Be sure to apply for his social security, also double check his annuity, Hopefully it was set up so you can still get money on it. I know my husband has one where he draws less money on it now, but if he passes away I will still draw on it.
Do you have a senior citizen center close by? I know here they have a bus that can pick you up, take you to the center for a 2 dollar meal and free entertainment to get one out of the house and mingle with others,
