Santa Monica to San Diego - 16 Days to the Race!

My workout was a 2 mile run, and I did a strength workout of 2 sets of 10 lunges on each leg, 2 sets of 10 pushups, ladders crunches and side crunches. Today is a rest day, and, as Hal Higdon says, that means absolute rest! No working out, at all! Rest days like these are crucial to prevent overtraining and dreaded injury. By the way, I got a chance to bring along my video camera and shoot some gorgeous footage along the Santa Monica beach yesterday. Check it out!

My food log for Thursday was not as impressive. Being on vacation and staying healthy is difficult. We drove to San Diego and I had to have one of these:

It's a San Diego California burrito, estimated at about 800-900 calories. I didn't use all that sour cream - just put little smatterings on here and there. This is an exclusive burrito that I've only been able to find in San Diego: french fries, carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and salsa. The place I went to is called Jalapenos.
My trick for eating while on vacation is to go ahead and eat the delicious food, but always retain control of portions. I didn't finish the burrito all in one sitting.
Today, I am going to visit Hash House, famous for amazing breakfasts. BUT, that means fruit for lunch and a very light dinner. :)
Stay tuned tomorrow... 60 minutes of cross training!
