Same-sex Marriage & The Religious Nuts
So, as many of you know, 2 Fridays ago, same-sex marriage was made legal nationwide. This doesn't come without backlash from the religious nuts. This includes but is not limited to, Christians, Muslims, etc. who use their holy book to justify their hate for gays.
As a spiritual Wiccan, and being both bisexual and transgender (post-op), I don't understand where some people get off using the bible to fit their agenda.
If we're talking the King James version of the Holy Bible, it was made in ancient times after Jesus had died, resurrected and went to heaven. They're now finding gospels removed from the bible by the person who created it. One being from a woman. That woman being Mary Magnalin. They didn't want EVERY teaching of Jesus to be known, just what they wanted you to know. So for that reason alone, I am glad I chose Wicca as my religious beliefs. And also for 2 other reasons. "What you give you get threefold." and "An' it harm none, do as ye will." They also say that there is no one right way to believe in a higher power. Some even say you can bring some of your past beliefs in when you become Wiccan. Yes, I believe Jesus was around. Do I believe he died in our place? Absolutely. But There are some things I don't believe happened in the bible. One being Adam and Eve, because the laws of nature don't allow for incest. Another being Noah and the ark. Again, laws of nature don't allow for incest. Science proves this. Also with finding dinosaur fossils, we have proof that the earth is NOT 6,000 years old or whatever Christians want to believe. Yes, I believe Jesus came as the lord in human form. But some stories don't have any scientific backing to them happening as mentioned above.
My little sister Michelle only knows me as who I am now, because that's how she met me. But she even said "If I had known you before you transitioned, I wouldn't love you any less nor would I think of you any less than who you are." or whatever she said to me over Skype one night. Her best friend is a gay guy. She is also Christian and believes in gay rights. Her reason being, "In the bible it says 'Love thy neighbor as thyself', clearly a message a lot of Christians ignore."
My other little sister, Jenny is bisexual as well, and loves me as her sister even though she knows I was once her "brother". Her husband knows about me transitioning as well and has no issues whatsoever.
So with those 2 siblings being said, I don't get those who hate on same-sex marriage. Religion influence or not.
If you don't believe in same-sex marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. If you don't believe in interracial marriage, don't marry/breed outside of your race. But sure as hell don't impose your beliefs on others and keep them from being happy. This should be common sense.
