Same ol' - same ol'
I went to work - came home - thought T was still sleeping. He apparently was up and out by the time J woke up. Because T's door was open when J got up - he thought he never came home. He did come home - but who knows where he is. Called him a few times and texted him but no answer - not surprised. Seems disinterested in getting a job, too. Every suggestion, every offer to take him from place to place went by the wayside. I know deep down he wants to do better - to feel productive - to earn money on his own but on the surface - he'd rather hang out with the friends who work different hours or have the day off. I think we should cut off letting him earn money at home. No incentive to try and work somewhere. T only wants to work during the day - so restaurants are "out" - according to him. People do eat during the day. No discount stores - treat employees bad. Will do landscaping but most of them have hired their help. The reasons to not to work seem to far outweigh the need for money. Trying to let it go because my husband's attitude and behavior doesn't match up to what he's been telling me. The rules and expectations mean nothing if he won't abide by them............. ARGGHH!

Hopefully, you can put your own boundaries in play anyway; the stuff in AlAnon is effective, even if only one person does it. It\'s like swimming upstream, though. And especially with an adolescent; they have more energy.
Sounds like he\'s really thought through the reasons why not to apply to certain places. It would be nice if he thought through what he actually could be doing, right?
You are resourceful; one of these days, he will get that his parents use their talents, and he will start to put his own to use in a positive way.
