Same ___, Different Day
I won't go into the nitty-gritty details, because I'm sick about thinking about them, but my son did it again as far as homework goes. And lied--bald-faced lied--about it to me. I argued good with him last night. Didn't yell, but I did have a strict "Mom voice". Bottom line: all privileges are revoked; no fun, all work. I will probably resort to bribery, because I have absolutely nothing left.
I did, however, feel a bit better after writing to the teachers involved & guidance counselor. I told them that I've done everything I can & that it's up to them now. There's nothing like "getting it out".
I also drafted my letter to the head deacon & church coach about dropping out of these (stupid) meetings. It was very tactful, full of "I" statements, and direct. I wish I could talk as well as I write!
I started reading "Thriving Despite a Difficult Marriage" by Chuck & Mike Misja. It mainly comes from the point of view that--except for the cases of abuse & immorality--divorce is not an option. And how to really "live" in that reality. So far, I like their style of writing & feel that everything that I've read so far is true.

HAVE YOU DISCUSSED WITH YOUR SON THE SITUATION, HOW HE FEELS ABOUT IT,AND HOW IMPORTANT EDUCATION IS, ALSO REMBER THE SCRIPTURE, DO NOT EXASPERATE YOUR CHILDREN, YOU CANNOT FORCE HIM, IT IS HOW HE FEELS ,I WENT THROUGH SEVERAL YEARS WITH MY DAUGHTER AND ONLY PRAYERS KEPT ME SANE AND HER SAFE, FOR A TIME THERE WAS A SERIAL KILLER WHERE SHE LIVED AT UNIVERSITY,A GIRL WAS NEARLY KILLED RIGHT IN THE SAME ROAD, IT WAS A VERY HARD TIME FOR ME ,ONLY THE GRACE \'\'OF GOD\'\' KEPT ME. OF COURSE IT IS WRONG FOR A CHILD TO LIE, BUT THEY ALL GO THROUGH A TIME OF BEING REBELLIOUS, BE PATIENT ,CORRECT HIM ,BUT LOVE HIM UNCONDITIONALLY, THE ENEMY WILL ATTACK US THROUGH OUR CHILDREN..LOVE LUCY...
Oh, we have discussed it & he know--he\'s no dummy. We did have a pretty good heart-to-heart the other day & now I\'m guiding him through this paper that is due. For him, this actually a big step since he used to just shut me out. But he\'s really gotta get motivated
