Safety

Was I really ever an OSHA superstar? When I took my first construction helper job in the late 60's, even my reckless-even-for-a-teen eye was able to see safety hazards to shake a seasoned veteran. The seasoned veteran who was mentoring me reinforced my natural observations with a stern determination to promote sorely needed safety protocols. As I cycled through the throw-away kid camps, OSHA was born. By the time I cycled through my Army tour and returned to contract construction helper work to pay for college expenses, OSHA was in its prime. "Safety Joes" were cycling through construction sites like Robocops, forever handing out citations and threats. By the time I retired from construction in 1995, the Safety Joes were more concerned with regulation than safety. I never did master the higher art of keeping a hard hat on my immensely thick head of hair while supervising overhead activity. Perhaps I shouldn't have asked the typically bald Safety Joes to empathize with the fact that bare scalp and thick hair are not the same? I certainly shouldn't have asked for empathy on the itch and sweat factor. Plastic hard hats and all their plastic straps were a nightmare in that department, especially during a long, hot sub-tropical summer.

During the long, hard maskite occupation, flashbacks have turned more than one store clerk into bald, peckish Safety Joes in my mind with their commands to, "Stay Safe." Where'd I leave my fricking hard hat this time?

My paranoia of the maskite invasion caused me to delete all my journals from the early maskite occupation for fear that the germaphobic faction was/is compiling Blacklists of non-compliers for? ? ? God know what. I have since been attempting to revert to my old world spiral notebook and subscription-free pen.

I miss my DS journal. Am I safe yet? Dare I return to keeping my therapy journal in the less private Virtual World? The maskite occupation is not over. **They** are still around, less readable than ever as their eyes dart over the rims of their masks. Are they formulating plans to use their Blacklists for a more effective coup de e'tat on their next go-round?

Testing, 1, 2, 3. . . I don't **get** to know what the maskites are up to, but I can test my own emotional responses to this daring act of publishing an on-line entry. We see what grows.

Yes, I know how to manipulate the privacy settings. I also have some clues on how to circumvent privacy settings for the sake of creating blacklists, etc. Locks only keep honest folk honest. Keeping honest folk honest is on my list of worthy goals. I believe I am being realistic to hold hackers, lawful or criminal, to an entirely different set of precautions. Those precautions are none of your business, Enemy Mine.

Just believing. . .

Big hug for you sweetie.... Have you had problems on DS Arf??.... If you have to can write them directly to talk about it if you wanted to...... I am sort of seeing a glimpse of more hope and I think an end in site....

I will be eligible for my second vaccine in a month but I have to admit this has changed me as well... I think it's changed a lot of us.... Another big hug and a blessing.....xo

The problems I have had on DS are pretty much the same ones inherent to any on-line support group and/or support groups, in general, Jan. Support groups are full of sick people like myself, after all. I thank you for your help.

No vaccine for me. I have yet to get my first seasonal flu shot and don't plan to start with a vaccine designed and rushed through protocols by people breathing their own CO2. Should I be expecting new social distances between the vaccinated and unvaccinated?

So many questions and so little agreement.

We've not had anything like this in my lifetime.... I think it will be effecting us in some ways for a long time unfortunately..... I think I'll be wiping down my groceries and shopping items from now on... No end it sight

From what I understand and I could be wrong the vaccines were being worked on since SARS so it's not all a new thing.... We all have to do what's right for us and it is scary... I hear you

I had the AstraZenica and didn't want it due to the blood clot 'issue' but I have asthma fairly significantly and don't think I'd survive the virus...

I am sure glad for where I live though... I feel truly blessed.... I look at India and it's heart wrenching

Big squishy hug sweetie... xo

I remember sanitation wars among my mother's generation. My own mother was more afraid of the chemicals than the germs. I all too often got caught in the cross-fire between her and her super sanitary peers Coronaville has given me some pretty vicious flashbacks to those "joys." Increasing social distances from both extremes. Again.

I guess the biggest reason I'm not afraid of The Virus is that I'm not afraid of dying. I'm in no hurry to go, but I'm already older than I ever expected to be. There are many levels on which I'm curious what comes next. Proof currently unavailable, but I'm not feeling whatever's next as a bad thing to be feared.
