Safe Talk
A family mantra grew somewhere in the convoluted 38 years of ramblings between Hubs and I. "Making ^it^ safe to talk about." I am far from certain, but I believe the seed for the mantra was planted somewhere in my own child sex trafficking psychotherapy. I believe the seed germinated during my in-law effort to understand the Huntington's Disease which runs in my husband's family.
I began to wonder if it has graduated to a family mantra yesterday during a plant shopping expedition when S.O. expressed appreciation for my gift of making ^it^ safe to talk about. Not easy. Not justy. Just safe. The harder the ^it^, the more important the safety factor. The ^it^ we were discussing at the time was the development of this ranch property within the complex weave of familial co-ownership. I am pretty sure I've heard ES use the phrase, as well, but it still might be too early to call it a family mantra. For sure it has become a shared goal between Hubs and I. Not too many of our shared dysfunctions or dreams can be remedied in a single sitting. *They* need to be safe to talk about.
Time is flying by this week. I can't believe it is already Thursday.

I'm really sorry that there's Huntington's disease in your husbands family.... I've seen it once and it's one of the worst diseases I've ever seen in 30 years of nursing
