Safe For Tonight At Least

Ben went to the emergency room in the middle of the night last night to try and get help. He is in the psych ward today because of depression and suicidal thoughts. I was with him all day long, and he says he wants to get into a program, but yet again, we are basically being turned away. The psychiatrist talked with Ben and I and told us he would put Ben on Buspar to help with his anxiety and gave him something to help him sleep, but so far, we have been unable to find a program that will accept our insurance. I have three numbers to call tomorrow, but when they release him tomorrow, I don't know what we'll do if we don't have someplace for him to go. I really want to find a place that will keep him for in-patient rehab for 90 days at least. Here's hoping for some luck and an empty bed at one of the three tomorrow. Ben told me and the doctors some crazy stuff today. He spent $1400 this week alone. Last night when he was using, he drove around slamming on the breaks to try and knock all the police officers he thought were on the top of his truck off. He also told me he has done every single drug there is to do at one time or another--except PCP or shooting up heroin. My heart is breaking every second of every day as I watch him struggle to make it through this. I'm going to do my best to relax tonight while I hang out on DS when the kids go to bed. I'm going to do some research tonight so that I'm armed with even more info tomorrow. Thanks again for all the info everyone has already given me.

I guess we both needed a night of peace right now. After what Ben did to you yesterday and what Jamie did to me the night before, we could both use at least one night of not having to worry about whether they are safe. I think I just might be able to sleep well tonight.

I\'m so glad to hear you may get some sleep tonight. Not to be too personal, but have you ever considered getting on something to help you relax or sleep. Someone on here suggested it to me, and I go to the doctor tomorrow. I used to take Buspar (same thing they gave Ben today) and it really helped me with the anxiety. I did get restless leg syndrome though. You can\'t win. Just a thought. You seem to be working so hard on your life and the situation with Jamie, but it might be a good idea to consider if you haven\'t already.

I\'ve thought about using an OTC sleep aid, just to see if it helps. I guess more than anything I am terrified of getting addicted or even a little dependent on any type of drug now. I have only had a drink two different times in the last 6 months.

OK, if I may chime in - There are very very potent natural and inexpensive things you two may want to try to help sleep/relax. The passion flower extract is fantastic - Also, valerian root - in capsules or tinkture. No hangover feeling but takes the edge off. It reduces anxiety. I wish I had a recommendation on the 90 day programs - still looking for one for Jeff even though it\'s out of my hands right now. You can try any health food store for those. I\'ve relied on these often and it\'s not a prescription.
I am so sorry to hear about the ER. Yup, experienced that too - they are conveyer belts.

Oh, my goodness! Chime away! I\'m lovin\' the idea of natural methods. I just wrote those down. I\'ll check on those as well on my \"taking care of me\" outing tomorrow. Conveyor belt! Lovin\' those analogies!!!!
