Sadderday

Dearest,
            I was up pretty late last night so, to compensate, I got up pretty early this morning. At the crack of dawn to be precise, why does the dawn need to make so much noise? Why is my hearing so much sharper when I’m here at night all alone? I can hear every little sound, every creak, every click, every snowflake landing on the roof (Yes – it still is). Are our vaunted medical professionals aware of this phenomenon? To improve a persons hearing they just need to sit home alone and watch horror movies. They’ll be able to hear the clouds collide. Speaking of medical professionals;
            I was reading an article that said, “In order to find inner peace you have to finish what you start”, was somebody named Dr. Phil. So, I started looking around the house at all the things I started and never finished. I finished off that bag of chips, the rest of that valium, the entenmann’s cake, that little bit of Johnny Walker, the last of the chocolates, the remainder of the Tia Maria and that prescription the dentist gave me. You have no idea how freakin’ good I feel right now! That guy was right!
            I’ve had that Johnny Mathis song going around in my head for a few days now. Makes me feel kind of sad but more lonely. A wistful longing that you were here.
You love a while and when love goes You try to hide the tears inside with a cheerful pose. But in the hush of night exactly like a bittersweet refrain Comes that certain smile to haunt your heart again
How am I supposed to . . . What am I supposed to . . .? There I go again leaving things unfinished. Wish you were here, wish we could share.
            I just noticed a bottle of white wine in the fridge, better go finish that up.

Till the snow stops falling and the wind stops blowing, Your Ken
