Sad and happy news
We have an awesome fellow on our soccer team. He HAD 5 children with his lovely wife (young ones) but I just found out that their infant daughter died. She was only about a month old. I recall talking to his wife at our second last outdoor soccer game and she said she had had a difficult birth with her previous baby and thought a c-section was the way to go. At the last outdoor game I talked to her husband and learned that she gave birth and was doing well. So sad. He is the greatest guy and so wonderful to his little munchkins who come to our soccer games with him. This guy is always smiling and upbeat - I can't even imagine him with another expression. My heart breaks for them. **He was so supportive to us when we went through our struggles with T. He gave me the name of a parole officer, Larry, who I called for emotional support and to find out how the system works. Larry would look up T's record and keep me updated. Then I find out that another friend, who was very supportive of T, has lung cancer. She just had surgery and they removed a billiard size mass in her lung. Fortunately, it is stage 1. ** Her son, who is 2 years older than T, went through drug treatment and she was my resource - what I needed to do and contact. She was also my cheerleader and kept reminding me to have hope. Oh - and then one of my very close friend's husband's name finally made the paper for embezzling money from the youth soccer program (where my husband was the President). I say "finally" because it was a matter of time. For awhile there, although most people who knew him, knew) his name was never mentioned in the article. I feel for them in the worst way. I wish I could talk to her. He was indicted with two counts of aggravated theft - third degree felonies that could result in a jail sentence or a $10,000 fine. He will be arraigned on Monday. My friend and I, strangely enough, converse on-line and get together for a walk every now and then. I can't call her because she doesn't have a cell. I may break the way we do things and call her. She always put up a front but I know that she has suffered with depression. For some reason (I believe it was the Divine Intervention) when she first learned this news, she seemed to become stronger. The reason he stole (or actually was using it as a bank because he would replace them as he was paid), I believe, was because of his business. Money was always tight and then they would get a wind-fall, once he was paid by his clients. I feel for him, his wife, and their two children. The oldest, a boy, will be attending a Catholic high school, and their daughter will be in 7th grade. So sad. And now the good news - T's friend, who lives here, but was in another state - in a coma from a heroin OD - (he attended a concert) is now home and doing well! I am so relieved!
