Significant Other

Such things never have clear anniversaries to mark on the calendar, but I do belive the Missus Manynames is a product of my own generation. "I don't like marriage, but I love weddings." is the commentary from the sister who is the only Missus Manynames I have known intimately. MM is my most despised sister. The Manyname romance/sex-closet dialogues are among my nastier triggers because of it. Of the three elder siblings (2 girls, 1 boy) who tormented Big Brother and I as children, MM was the most vicious. She was as natural a predator an perverse as I have ever known. Her two daughters donae even know how many stepfather's they had growing up. Their childhoods were even more unstable than mine. She only has one abandoned child that I know of. His half-sisters havenae ever met him, but they envy him all the same. I havene seen MM for enough years that I can deny knowledge of whether she is still finding a steady supply of studly men who also like weddings. I suspect that alcoholic dementia and ?67? years of romantic living have left marks that even she can see through her romantic self-image. I only suspect. Donae care to know. In her case, I still hold denial as a good thing.

Leaving the denied big sis and her favorite cultural trend aside for now. . .

"The Significant Other" is one of the ex-hunter media tags I rather admire. It leaves room for love which isnae blessed by any of the cultural institutions. I do believe in love bigger than blood and cultural blessings. The times I have watched SO's successfully integrated into families have taken my breath away. Hasn't happened to me, so I can only wonder about the day-to-day mechanisms of those miracles. Yes, I have asked many questions, but answers seldom offer functional insights to the daily do. Saying is far, far easier than doing. A computer model of athletic conditioning doesn't include the how-to's of just showing up on the days you are missing an especially tempting social event.

Break up dramas have been salted throughout this harrowing phase of our family life. Only one of those break-up dramas is mine to sort. Eldest Son, included. Bachelor(ette) break up dramas are especially ho-hum in my personal drama rating scale. Just run on down to your favorite meat market and pick up another one, dear. There are apps for that.

But ES's current SO has woven my heart strings in the 2 1/2 years I have known her. She is another cross-culture emotional orphan. Neither branch of her family tree is functionally tolerant of the other. Her stories about the bio-mom she is afraid to call conjure up images of big sis, MM. Her bio-mom even lives in the same state as my MM. The paternal branch of her family tree does not speak English. SO is language phobic from the pressure to speak her father's language (Perfectamente) without help from qualified instructors. Her father died in 2012. SO has touched my heart on the most primal level I am aware of. She is even smart enough to nurture compassion within her disenfrachised life. Please don't take her away from me. . . Wish it was mine to sort.

Should the survey project at the inherited Surname Property move to its next phase, SO is my assistant of choice. She wants the job. Is it a miracle that she still wants the job after being yanked by the Co-owner drama? Feels like a miracle to my fractured senses.

As mandated by the younger (37) man of the house, SO moved her belongings out of the homestead and into her car payment yesterday. The elder man of the house even impressed me by checking in on her during his lunch break and writing her a generous check to get her through the first days of her homelessness. My hero. Have you ever tried to get an apartment in a fashion zip code for that amount, My Heroic Hubby? Never mind. . .

My most beloved sis called me with the news of our bio-mom's death shortly after SO texted me that her things were packed and she was headed my way. It was a far different conversation from hubby's phone call from his father's private nursing staff when his father died. I promise hubs would have been offended if he had been listening in. I am grateful he was a densely populated metroplex away. One complication at a time, please. I am equally grateful neither man of the house was here to authoritate the emotional orphan dialogue which ensued after SO arrived last night. Please don't ask us to translate while you are correcting our politics. Not even SO and I are confident of anything we said. Not ready for editorial review. . . I donae believe it ever will be fit for an elaborate pre-arranged funeral.

SO left after a couple hours of manicky dialogue. Her best friend from her father's hometown is pampering her with break-up remedies. Do that do, ladies. We get by with a little help from our friends.

What will come of the dialogue between us? We are both waiting to see what grows. Small steps, big faith and lots of prayer.

Daily morning inventory: Colon pain moderate. Appetite still fragile. Support dog calm. Head noise moderate. I needed 3 number puzzles to achieve focus. Achieved focus feels fragile.

Thank you, ML. Have toolbox will travel. . .

Repeat: I have documented proof that I am a bonafide Nomad, born and raised. Even been paid for it. I am far more at home on the road than I am in any 21st century domestic setting. I even travel with non-humans.

I know, no block for me to check on the EEO or Census forms. . . May I call myself, "An Undocumented Minority?" Not bureaucratically, of course. Do bureaucrats think while they are on the clock? The bureaucrats I respect have all told me that thinking on the job just slows down the process.
