Rv Park & Campground
It has all the amenities of a motorhome, but provides flexibility when you need it. All RV sites are electric-only at this campground, but some are directly along Chalk Creek for a peaceful campsite. You can easily make the drive to Capitol City from Lake City, Colorado. Just head west on Engineer Pass Road for about nine miles, and you’ll make it to the site.
With majestic, snow-capped mountains surrounding it, Silverton, Colorado offers stunning RV camping. But with all that there is to experience in Southwestern Colorado, RV camping is only just the beginning. The hiking, biking, and off-road trails here are exceptional. The campground is set amidst whispering pines and enjoys the soothing sounds of whitewater on the Animas River. The park is far enough from highway US-550 to receive little road noise. One detraction is the closeness of some of the RV sites which can feel cramped and crowded.
We offer an array of activities for visitors, opportunities for investors and a rich culture to be enjoyed by anyone. Jeep Ouray offers 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Editions for exploring the county roads of the San Juan Mountains and Southwest Colorado. With high mountain passes going up over 13,000 feet above sea level, Jeep season usually opens up around June, and continues through October, weather permitting. The Rubicon Recon Package is one of the most versatile vehicles on the market today.
This vibrant, albeit tiny mountain community is bustling with activity, energized by all there is to experience here. Caution – This is yet another campground where you may not be able to trust your GPS/Nav system guidance. The campground has only recently become a KOA and GPS/Nav system base-maps may be out of date. Check KOA website for directions, use street address, or consult a more frequently updated service like Google Maps. During out last visit, there were a few campers who had their dogs off leash.
Enjoy amazing views of Lake Granby from this campground. Loop A has electric sites fitting for RVs of up to 30 feet. Just a short walk from the Ranger Lakes fishing areas, this small state forest campground boasts 31 electric sites and two trailheads accessible from the campground.
Free dispersed camping gets harder and harder to find each year, but not so near Durango. The La Plata City Campground, located just off of the La Plata River, is a dispersed camping gem that’s worth a visit. With easy access to hiking at Animas City Mountain as well as fishing on the river, you’ll never be bored at this campground.
It has plenty of full hookup sites and pull-through sites for larger RVs. With 67 full hookup sites, this is an excellent place to stay awhile in the mountains. Enjoy great amenities such as the onsite cafe and trading post. Unlike many others on the list, St. Elmo is not one of Colorado’s abandoned ghost towns. A small population still lives there today. It’s partly for this reason that the town is so well preserved and also tremendously easy to access year-round.
This place has pizza, an ice cream shop and sits right on a river. By far one of the nicest KOAs we have been to. 71,000 acres of forest, alpine lakes, electric campsites.
Long term tenants must use propane as their heat source and have propane delivered regularly. If tenant uses electrical heat sources, such as portable space heaters or heat lamps, an additional $100 per month will be assessed to that tenant for each device. RV sites must be kept clean and free of trash. Noise must be kept to a reasonable level and proper behavior maintained in order not to disturb other guests. No parking or driving on the grass is allowed. Guests’ belongings cannot spill out into driveways, common areas, or other RV sites.
We have two Cabins, two Tipis, free Wifi, communal fire pits and a small playground area. Our club house is well utilized by all our guests for playing cards, dominoes, craft and general activities and we have a Rec-Hall for larger functions such as our popular Potlucks and socials. Located 20 miles north of Durango, the extremely popular Haviland Lake Campground is located right on the shaded ponderosa-pine shores of the Haviland Lake. It offers single/double family sites, 17 of them with electrical hookups, with many sites having views of the lake and Hermosa Cliffs, as well as easy access to the shoreline. Campers have a plethora of options for activities around the lake - fishing, canoeing, boating, and more, and the campsite is also close to multiple trail heads, such as the Forebay Lake Trail.

RVers willing to make the journey will be rewarded with quick access to trails around Cape Horn, Sliderock Mountain, and Monument hill. Full hookup RV sites, sleeper cabins, a park model and Aspen Cabin, glamping RV Resort Aztec tents, and tent sites. Aspen Acres Campground is in Rye along the Frontier Pathway Scenic Byway. Almost a dozen art emporiums participate in the 1st Thursday Art Walk, a time when galleries exhibit their best work and regularly showcase new work by some of their artists.
