RUNNING OUT OF TIME

Bonnie Raitt has a song called scared to run out of time which kind of reminds me of where my life is now.  Even though I'm sick and listless.  It seems I'm trying to do more now than I ever did when I was young and healthy.  I'm trying to write a novel and an autobiography, I'm trying to learn to play guitar, I'm drawing and painting portraits, I'm trying to keep up with the lives of all my online friends, I'm trying to keep up with the invitations that I keep getting to speak at youth groups to give testimony to the next generation about how I messed up my life in the hope of getting a few young people to make better decisions. I've come to the conclusion that life is just a series of distractions until we meet that inevitable end.  In America, we spent so much time chasing after that so-called American dream that we sometimes tend to forget that life is really just about loving one another.  We place far to much emphasis on amassing large amounts of money and material possessions and the people in our lives become somewhat secondary. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that if I had another life to live and had the knowledge that I have now.  I would have definitely followed a different path. Even though I may have never obtained great riches.  I have learned to be happy with just what I have and the people that are around me.  I know a few people who have great riches who are more lonely and depressed than I have ever been. So it is true, money doesn't necessarily buy you happiness.  It only makes it easier to live from day to day.  I really don't think that I have a point to this blog  so happy Easter to anyone that reads it and please forgive my rambling.
