Routines

I am a creature of habit.  I have routines,,,such as when and how I go to bed,,,what I do when I wake up,,,when I get on the computer.  Since I've been on disability some routines have changed such as how I mow the lawn.  It's, no longer mow the whole front in one day.  Now, it takes two days because of my knee.  I've adapted for the week days.  But, I can't change the weekend.  It has stayed grocery shopping on Saturday and doing laundry on Sunday.  The times have changed, but not the days.  Shopping was at four in the morning until a few weeks ago when the store started closing at 2AM and reopening at 6AM.  The biggest change has been the laundry.  I'd be at the laundry at 4AM until the cleanup guy said it's be 7AM.  I went to a 24 hour laundromat about twice as far away from my house and did the laundry at 3AM.  The place changed hands and began closing at night.  A guy would open it at 6AM, then it changed to 7 and later.  A woman began opening it and told me she opened another laundromat at 6AM for 2 women.  It was closer and great for a while until one lady stopped coming, then the other did too.  I do my laundry every 2 or 3 weeks, so she couldn't open it just for me although she did try.  She told me she was opening for a couple of women early Saturday morning.  I've tried waiting on her, but can't get passed 6:45 and leave to finish my Sunday routine.  I can't seem to change.  It fouls up the weekend.  Grocery day means pizza day when I fix a pizza for Foxy and me.  Laundry day is when I do my better cooking that makes 3 meals for the week.  The meals are fresher when cooked on Saturday.  This week, I'm going to try Wednesday since I have a doc appointment Monday and have to do the yard Tuesday.  I know it sounds crazy, but this weekend routine started when I was working for the t.v. and has lasted more than 20 years.  It's the only thing I have left for the time I felt valuable.

Gentle ((hugs)) shared.

I have simplified my life since the death of my husband. I suppose we do what we must to cope as well as we can.

I replaced all the turf with gardens as I could no longer push the mower. Ground covers such as gazania are working out well.

I think, for me, it was having to accept my faith did not hold up to reality. I could no longer remain in denial as I faced so many medical emergencies from severe neglect. No god ever lifted a finger to bring needed justice or the care which would have allowed a quality life to be lived. Facing that reality left pain but for the first time facing reality saved my life as I began accepting life as it is and no longer as my faith wanted it to be.

Be gentle with yourself and share as that helps me to hang on.
