Rounding Up The Ducks
As I recently told you all, I've again been overwhelmed with all my "ducks" scattered throughout thye pond. Well I'm happy to report that with your encouragement and well needed reminders to focus on one step at a time.... I am making some headway.
Spoke with HR and was told when I do decide to go officially part time, I will still carry over vacation days I didn't use. The only thing is my personal time will be cut from 24 to 12 hrs.... so she suggested I use them now before I switch over. Also my insurance continues through the end of 2022. (I was afraid the second I cut back I'd need COBRA, but thankfully not the case.) Also went online to get an estimate of what I should get now for disability, so I have an idea what I am looking at financially.
The spare room is finished and painted. I've decided to try to get things more cleared out and left a message with the realtor about putting it on the market beginning of March. He's also going to help me search a bit more where I want to go. My problem is I am so focused on one place that is pricey, but do-able. it has an opening for next month, but I'm not yet ready.... and can't afford 2 pymts at once.
Went to the spine and pain mgmt specialist. He was very nice and suggested I try a steroid injection in my back where the discs are so tight and pinching nerves. The therapy is helping, but I still have such tightness if I walk a decent distance without leaning on a cart, it aches in my lower back and legs feel heavy. He thinks this will help alleviate it. I am crossing my fingers and saying lots of prayers that it does help (and hopefully not do anymore damage) Part of it too is the fact I am going for disability, I don't want them thinking I am not trying to improve. I guess I should not think I have to do this or else, so trying to look at it as a chance to take. Lord knows after my accident and surgeries that I did take the chance on I should remember what I tell others... it makes such a difference. Fingers crossed here.
So Daffy, Donald, Huey and Louey are all ready to go... just a few more to gather... Daisy, Uncle Scrooge...still need to fall in line. Thankfully there is progress.
Thank you all.

LOL ducky.....
That's Awesome Kim. Way to take the drivers seat.
It's encouraging to see your resolve and continued progress. May God bless you with further pain relief and guidance in your potential move.
Dont you have two houses already?
Your moms house isnt where you want to move?
I guess I do not understand. Are you selling your house keeping hers and moving to another part of same area you live in now?
Are you lolking to buy or just going into rental?
Bill, you have Mary Contrary and I reversed. She inherited her Mom's place. I am still in the house that late hubby and I bought..It's almost paid off, but too much upkeep and outrageous taxes for me.
I am looking into apt complexes near family with some amenities and no more worries of upkeep.. They (complex) will take care of things.
it was someone else than Mary....I knew Mary got her mom's house because she had been living there all along....but for some reason I thought you got your mom's house too....weren't you living with your mom for while after hubby died?
Well good Luck with the rest of your Ducks. Do what you can and F.... the rest!!
LOL Quack quack. Big grin here
Bill....nope wasn't me. My mom died when I was 15. I have no desire to share her space in the cemetery. Wink, wink
Kim please take this into consideration when looking for a place.....I sold my home 17 years ago, relocated to a different state like you I no longer wanted the upkeep and taxes ..I found a great apt complex with all the amenities rent in 2004 was 750.00 per month. Moving forward 16 years and my income reduced due to my retirement apt. was 1150.00. So i bought an apt in 2020 my mortgage payment is 550.00.....You may want to buy something smaller a condo or apt...which will appreciate in value as well. Good luck
Best of luck with the changes.
