Rough Few Days

I worked 2 long days . I'm supposed to be 5 hrs but did 6 and 6.5 because I am scheduled to do same as a coworker who has 6 hr shift so I try to get her stuff done.Because we are short handed I try to help, but others rarely do . After long shifts on concrete floors and staying put most of the time, til I am done I can barely move. Once I am home, I grab lunch and collapse on my chair.

To top it off I had maybe 2 hrs sleep night before last.  (my mind was racing with my endless list of duties for my next day at work... a very early and insane day in store for me) So yesterday I came home with intent on long nap. What I did was slept on my recliner with tv on all day and night. This morning I had sleep but in a chair and shifted is not ideal. So again I hurt like an SOB.

Since I am up and around and now in my desk chair I am doing better. I must do my PT exercises and get back into sleeping in my bed at a decent time.

Happy Sunday everyone.

wow, you have to learn to close that door on the job. I know it is hard, but you can do it. I did it. Hard, you bet. I sleep on my recliner God, am I sore and stiff afterwards. Hugs

Sleep is when the body heals itself so I always try to go to bed early, sleep in the right position and say a prayer before I drift off to wherever my dreams take me. When doing that, I almost never have nightmares......hugs

I would nap in the bed not the chair.....I only fall asleep in my recliner when extremely tired....

Do you have good new shoes with a thick sole and arch support? They will help your legs and feet. I know they are expensive, believe me I know! I even got Vionic house shoes and I can’t believe how much better my feet feel wearing those with the arch support and heel cupping. I can’t walk or stand more than an hour due to bad arthritis in feet and ankles so I had to retire. Like 25 years of this and working and wondering why everyone else can do 8 hours on their feet and not have awful pain? High quality good shoes will help you a lot. Especially on cement floors. Easy Spirit brand has some medium quality shoes that are not too expensive.

Hoping all the best for you in using your PT exercises at home or on breaks to take the edges off the pain you bring home from work. AND hoping that following up on Hasty's mention of the value of foot support, wondering if you might be able to get a recommendation for prescription footwear that your insurance could help pay for? Imagining that this might be something you've already researched. With all of us wanting the best for you, hoping that small things help, as you are dealing with thi realities of this work situation and how it impact your health as a larger problem. Any thoughts of talking to your HR rep about any ADA supports you have to enforce keeping your work hours at more ideal limits or troubleshooting (maybe with your PT?) to suggest some accommodations with your HR rep which help you in this setting since my impression is that you do a great job and enjoy working.

I do enjoy what I do and being around people, but I have noticed lately because of the work situation ( them promising us help but being unable to deliver,) we are always trying to keep things going smoothly. It seems like every day we are struggling to play catch up and noone really looks forward to going in anymore.

For me, because of not caring enough to put my health first, I haven't been doing as I should and this has led me to struggle some days simply getting around. The stress, anxiety and depression has impacted me'

I actually did get approved by both family physician and foot doctor and was eager to go get a new pair of prescription shoes. For some reason the shoe place FOOT SOLUTIONS (which is right by my foot doctor and he says medicare does pay for a new pair of shoes) called me to tell me that they do not accept my insurance BECAUSE I WENT WITH MEDICARE ADVANTAGE THINKING THAT WOULD HELP ME. Co frustrated.

wow, what a runaround. I hope you can get it sorted out. Thank God, all Canadians need is a Dr. referral and we get it. None of what you are going through. Yes, for Universal Medicine. hehehe I had private insurance that covers what the Canada health Insurance doesn't

Yep, Medicare Advantage companies get to keep their profits, are paid a yearly fee per customer per year, and so denial, no no no, is their norm. I learned this working in a hospital, and having a husband start out on Medicare Advantage. The Affordable Care Act set up more MA companies to SAVE money for the government. For some it works out. But where I live, Original Medicare is the better choice. What is cheaper per month for the consumer is a rip-off in the long run.

Oh, and all these sales people hawking the MA plans. Saw one in Walgreens twice this last month. They get commission. Now anything that has a commission is making enough money to afford paying that commission.

I am thoroughly disgusted that I have to learn all this stuff THE HARD WAY as I go. Like everyone else, I thought an Advantage plan would cover what Medicare didn't. Turns out, the way it is set up they BLOCK some of those things. I may have no deductibles and small (if any) co pays but things that are to be covered after original part A and B get submitted to part D prescription (MA) and medicaid does NOT cover anything from that.

can't believe they will not cover (or even put toward ) the damn shoes.
