roller coaster - for me

Wow - this advocacy "stuff" certainly keeps my head above water.  I am glad I didn't cancel my coffee appointment this morning because of my son (afraid he'd wake up and need something) but he slept the whole time I was gone.
Anyway - I met with another director at another adolescent drug treatment center (they do outpatient only) and I told her my idea about how to go about getting a school(s) to mandate parents to go the drug education programs.  I thought she'd shake her head and say "that's nice" like others who have, or "good luck with that" but she jumped on the idea and then some!!!!!  Wow.  We're supposed to meet again with some "key players".  I know this is what I'm supposed be doing because God keeps directing me to these people. Ironically, she had no idea that I was the parent who ran the education programs.  She heard about me and the programs but not the two together.  Trying not to be too excited.... I know I am not the one in charge.  *Can't help it though.  LOL
After the meeting -  I raced home, got J, and then raced off to his orthopedic appt.  Waited two hours only to see him emerge with new crutches and an additional ace bandage.  Won't have an MRI until next Friday because they're booked.  In the meantime ~ he's to elevate it and rest.  Sure.  He is going to the orchestra tonight downtown.  Begged me to let him drive! Right leg?  Pain meds?  Our car?  No way.  He wasn't happy, understandably, but it ain't gonna happen.  I offered to drive him and meet my husband and his friends out to dinner later.  No.  He was surly and didn't like that option.  Funny how he managed to get a ride from a friend.  Couldn't before until he learned "no way, Jose".  Funny how that works.
Not thrilled about him going but ~ what to do?  His mental health is important too.  He needs some distractions and to be with his friends.
