Road Trip Update

Took my sister to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.  We left home about 9:20 am and arrived at the hospital at approx. 10:45am.  There were 29 people in the waiting room.  We registered at the desk and we waited.  At 2pm, we met with an admission nurse who logged all my sisters Meds. etc., and why she had came to the ER at Barnes.  We were then seated back in the ER waiting room.  People were holding buckets to puke in, people were receiving breathing treatments and having oxygen tanks hooked up to them.  We sat there till about 4pm. Police wer pringing people in, drunks were coming in, Ambulances coming in, non-stop.  There was a constant flow of incoming people.
We were then asked to follow a nurse to another waiting room in the treatment center.  We sat there until 7:50pm.  My sister then was seen with a Nurse Practitioner and blood was drawn.  We waited until test results came back,  and she was given some papers with a name of a Gastrointestinal Center in St. Louis and told to call for an appointment within the next 2 weeks.  All blood tests came back normal.  No other tests were done.  NONE!!!!!!!!!

9 hrs in the waiting room and they basically did nothing.  I was not surprised. I had to put up with the arguing and fussing with my sister at the nurses and all her complaining about having to wait so long, etc.

I tried to tell my sister and my BIL, just what would happen if we went down there with no referral, no appointment and no records.  It happened just as I said it would.  Both my sister and BIL are in their early 80's.  This was not a fun trip.  I just wish they would have listened to me.
