Road to Recovery
I haven't been on here in a while. Mainly because the stories are depressing and it's hard to give support and feedback when I felt like I was sitting in the same whole. So, to deviate from my frustration and sadness, I chose to stay away. However, I owe it to everyone to share some good news and provide hope.
The past few weeks have been trying. My husband tested dirty at work for meth which I prayed he would because I know this is/was one of our core issues along with the infidelity. His addiction increased his sexual desire. Not to say, he hasn't cheated on me without the drug but I really don't know. In any case, his work sent him to a drug rehab. WHAT A BLESSING!! He has been clean for 18 days tomorrow and recovering very well... Almost too good to be true. However, he has tested clean and recently completed his two week rehab and back to work tomorrow. We aren't out of the clear but he has taken in everything. I haven't seen this side of him. He has reiterated time and time again how sorry he is and demonstrates remorse and guilt. He said that he wants his wife back and will do anything to make things right. He has become transparent thus far and I hope and pray we are at the end of our ugly journey and onto bigger and brighter things.
The only kicker is we haven't discussed the infidelity much. He has asked to take things slow and let him settle completely into the recovery and deal with the infidelity later. I have decided rather than discourage his recovery, I would put my feelings on the back burner and support him in his recovery so long as he understands i will have conflicting feelings. He has said and demonstrated that he will do whatever necessary to make things comfortable for me until we start dealing with the infidelity. He has demonstrated compassion, love and support and I am truly grateful for his effort. last night, we had a great discussion which touched the surface of the infidelity. He allowed me to vent without getting mad and reassured me things will get better.. I don't need to hear promises... I just want him to show me and reassure me which he has time and time again. It's amazing how prayers get answered...
I am still very guarded and full aware things can turn for the worse. I am not naive in this matter however I continue to have hope.. God is on my side... I just have a great feeling about this.. this time!

Completely understandable to be guarded...but it does look like you have good reason to be optimistic. Hope things continue in the right direction. Take care...
