Rising from the ashes...

So the kidney infection was the worst I have had...and I am an expert at these things.  The antibiotic they originally put me on did not seem to be working, and they wanted to put me on Cipro (which is NOT safe during pregnancy).  I explained that we were in the window of fertility and that while we would now STOP TRYING, there might already be little swimmers waiting in there, so I could NOT take any chances.
The not-very-sensitive Dr. said, "Well, if you decide NOT to take Cipro, you will probably end up in the hospital on IV antibiotics (meaning Cipro) anyway. So, you have to be practical here and realize that you come first."
Whatever.  I stayed on Augmentin and slowly, but surely it is getting better.  Now, today I am suddenly having discharge, which I never do...So I am freaking out...wondering if I could actually be pregnant?  It does not at all seem like a yeast infection (which Augmentin does not usually cause me anyway).  And I take probiotics and such, so I don't know.
Now, I'm trying to figure out when I would go take the Quantitative HCG serum test?  I didn't get an LH surge when all the cycle calculators thought I would...I got it later, so who the heck knows?!?  And, I did not chart BD'ing because we stopped trying...so I have no clue.  ARGH.  I had planned to be much more PLANNED.  LOL
My DH is getting over his pneumonia, double ear infections, sinus infection and bronchitis...also slowly.  He has had a couple of job interviews that seem promising, but S-L-O-W.  The next follow up interview for one of them in MID-DECEMBER in front of a 6 person panel.
Now to sweet Sophia.  She is recovering from the flu bug we all had, although she MIGHT have another UTI, which just kills me.  They said if she got another they were going to do a VCUG, which for a 2 yr old is a BRUTAL procedure that they do not sedate for!  I do not want to have that done to her.   The think there might be reflux from bladder to kidneys causing these, but I think what causes her UTI's is that she poops 12 times a day and it is always a nasty mess that gets in her female parts!!  DUH.
If she stays Fever-Free, we are back at Children's Hospital Wed, Thurs & Friday this week for more tests and conferences with specialists.
Thank you ALL for your prayers!!  If you have any pearls of wisdom over when and how I should test for pregnancy, let me know.  Maybe my antibiotic is causing this white stuff?  Ugh.  Wish I felt a little smarter right now.  LOL

Well I\'m glad all of your family\'s infections seem to be improving. When it comes to testing, I\'m all for waiting until the missed period...the early testing, I feel, just sets you up to know about a chemical pregnancy. I know they\'re very common, but it would just feel like a huge loss to me all over again.
Sorry to maybe add to your worries, but does Sophia maybe have a digestive problem (or maybe a very high fiber diet) that makes her poop so much? Or maybe they can give her something to harden the stool so it\'s not so messy and doesn\'t get into her urethra as easily? Lol I\'m just speculating here, I don\'t have kids (yet!) so I dunno about these things.

I can\'t help you much on the whether or not you might be pregnant part but, both of my daughters have that bladder reflux and have to have annual VCUG\'s Riley had her first one around 6 months and Reese around 9 months, surprisingly for my girls at least the kidney ultrasound seems to be the worst part of the exam. Don\'t get me wrong the VCUG is no walk in the park but it is usually faster and there is more help in the room. For the U/S it\'s just one parent and the person doing the exam, I literally have to pin my girls downs for this because they freak out. I really hope your sweetie does not have to go through this but I thought if she does it might help to know what to expect. I you do have to do it. I can tell you in more detail what to expect. Best of luck with everything, I hope things turn out the way you want and that everyone continues to feel better.

sometimes I just wish life would be boring for me for just a couple months...I hope that for you too...boring as in...no medical crisis...no illness...no job loss...no financial worries...no insurance problems. You have had more than your fair share and personally I think you are doing an awesome job managing all the tremendous pain, worries, and burdens that are being thrown your way.
