right decision

T-Man appears to be doing "well" despite the fact I know he's "doing something".  Having said that ~ last night he texting my husband's cell until my husband decided to answer it because we knew he was asking for $.  He wanted the money to take a 3 day trip (2 1/2 hours away) with his friends.  Last minute ~ everything is last minute.  He knows that that's how he will get what he wants ~ putting my husband on the spot.  I coached my husband and told him to say no.  We spent tons of $ this year on Christmas and we can't give anymore.  T told us to take back some of his gifts because he won't wear some of them.  We bought this stinker a $700+ camera for Christmas (he needs it for school) and then lots of other gifts.  Sorry buddy.  I told him we don't give money for Christmas anyway.  Hubby couldn't take the begging and handed the phone to me.  T really worked me but I held my ground.  After T hung up on me hubby was silent for sometime.  I knew he didn't completely agree with me but, at least, he didn't give me a hard time.  I told him I did not enjoy telling T no but we had to.  He has to earn it - either doing something here at home or through a job.  He won't apply for one.
So T leaves anyway.  Apparently his friends are willing to "take care of him".

Well, thumbs up! you are right about how they put people on the spot to not give them time to think about doing the right thing, and I\'m so glad you had the courage of your convictions.
My own son left on a trip yesterday also. He has seemed sober (and somber) the last few weeks, however. Some idiot who was moving to Palm Springs asked him and his friend to drive down his Corvette for him! So they took off yesterday. They will drive a clunker truck back. Thanks goodness this did not involve money from us. B has a provisional driver\'s license and liability insurance, but I ca\'t imagine him refraining from driving the Corvette despite his claim that he won\'t. Whatever. I\'ve been busy since I found this out last evening, getting my head to the place where I can \'let go\' and \'let God\', and trust all will be well. B\'s had a guardian angel all his life anyway who has gotten him out of some tight spots, and I pray he\'s on the job this week.
May you be able to grab some serenity as well, and concentrate on good feelings for yourself, and have a good New Year.
