Rest day... 9 Days til the Race
Today's Workout: RESTING. Ahhh...
Is it crazy to still want to run on a rest day? I think so. But I am enjoying it. It feels nice to know that I'm sitting on my butt because my muscles need a rest, and not because I'm just procrastinating or being lazy :)
There are times, though, when I shuffle around my days to fit my schedule. The nice thing about training plans is that they force me to look ahead to see what workouts I have. Then, I can look at my own personal schedule, and if I have a busy day right before a light day, but a hard workout before a rest day, there's nothing wrong with switching the two!
I do eat slightly lighter on rest days though. Today, I had a pastrami sandwich from Safeway, and a plum. I had just a couple bites of chocolate cake as well, but only about 150 calories worth. I try not to restrict myself when I am craving sweets, but I make sure that I eat my nutritious food first, then reward myself with a bite of the sweet, not because I am hungry, but because I just want to savor the taste. I'm in a sandwich mood today, so I might make myself a ham sandwich for dinner too :)
Tomorrow's workout: 60 minutes of cross training. I might be going for a bike ride for my cross training, and I'll be sure to take some more photos!
Also, thank you everyone for the support!!! It's been amazing to have so many well wishes!

Yay for a mandatory rest day! I love those! :)
Are you sure you are eating enough cals to match your overall training program? How many calories do you shoot for in a day? I know that for me, it is hard to find that balance of enough cals to propel the workouts. You are totally kicking butt with your workouts! I am so excited for your race- yay for 9 days!!
Enjoy your Friday! :)
Rest is important especially when your working hard. So enjoy!
Enjoy your bike ride (cross training day)
Are you doing any stretching as well? Good for you on just a few bites of cake.
Keep up the good work
Your updated account fascinates me...the persistence, the determination.
This will certainly influence all you do from here on out...

apparently I managed to double my comment, well what you do definitely impresses and inspires me
Thanks as always for the support :) I am making sure I have 1500 calories per day. I\'m short - only 5 foot nothing :) - and I used to think 1200 calories per day was right for me. But I was always hungry and I read online that that\'s just too few calories for just about anybody. And yes, I stretch before and after runs. I used to not stretch and then have a pain in my foot the next morning that would shock my body as soon as I got out of bed and put my foot on the ground, and I\'ve found that stretching really helps avoid that pain.
You sound truly committed....keep up the good work! *Hugs*

Your not being lazy. You definitely need to do a mandatory rest day - gotta get those muscles a chance to relax. Glad to see that your keeping your calorie intake. Just remember that you need to take an additional calories to accommodate your training as long as your not constantly overdoing it. I remember that pain in the foot. Except that I didn\'t get that until about 15-17 miles into my training runs. Once when I was doing about 13 miles, I realized that I needed to carry a water holster and almost didn\'t make the training run. I was so dehydrated. You will be great.
