Research and networking is definitely the key
Well after a couple of days in the support group I've gotten more answers to questions that have been plaguing my mind since i decided to have the surgery. I am grateful for this site because I was minutes away from throwing in the towel. My anxiety was up, and I started feeling like if i go through with it - it would probably be the biggest mistake i've ever mad in my life - but now I think if I don't I could truly regret it. Despite my anxiety about the surgery and the negative thoughts about the excess skin (call it vain or whatever) I am really looking forward to a total lifestyle change. I don't want to live the rest of my life worrying about my blood pressure, diabetes or the thought of having a heart attack. My sons said mommy you lived long enough to raise us, you have seen 3 grandchildren born, do you think you can be here when the great grands come? I didn't know they thought like that or were worried about me the way that they are - but now that I do, I have to do this for them but more importantly to improve my own quality of life. I'll never forget being in virginia with my son in walmart and how i had to keep stopping to take a breath because my legs hurt or my breathing became labored. I tried to play it off, but he knew and no sooner than we got back to his house - he said "ma you have got to do something" You have to choose to live. Well, my choice has now been made - I choose to live for Me and my family. Thank you God for leading me to this site and for constantly watching over me in my weakened state - I know that as I go forward you will continue to carry me, until I am well and able to carry myself. I declare and decree this day, that this weight loss victory will be mine.

You definetly have to right attitude:-)! i had anxiety and was ready to head for the heels up until i was in the actual surgery room.. God seen me threw it and he will see you threw it too!! Go for it...!
So glad you found this group. I had great worries about excess skin too, in fact it was almost enough to make me reconsider the surgery. I went forward for the kinds of health reasons you describe. For me, it is the only thing that has worked. I\'m down 60 pounds and so far I do not have excess skin, although my upper arms are a little wiggly! On the health side: my asthma has cleared, my blood pressure is normal without meds and I\'ve move out of the prediabetes range to fully normal blood sugars.
I\'ll pray for you on your decisions and a healthy outcome.
